3 CJIS Training Symposium Pre-Registration Pre-Registration begins March 3, 2014 and closes August 8, Attendees must complete Pre-Registration at the 2014 Georgia CJIS Training Symposium Home Page through the following link: Instructions are located in the Information Section of the 2014 Georgia CJIS Training Symposium Home Page. CJIS Training Symposium Registration Fee Registration Fee for each attendee is $ The fee must be received by July 18, If received after July 18, 2014, the late registration fee is $ for each attendee. Attendees can pay on-line through the Pre-Registration process. If mailing, send to: GCIC ATTN: CJIS SYMPOSIUM, P.O. BOX , DECATUR, GA CJIS Training Symposium Cancellation and Substitution Policy No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after July 18, Substitution in lieu of cancellation can be made at any time. To cancel a Pre-Registration or to substitute personnel, contact Melissa.Mefferd@gbi.ga.gov. If substituting personnel, provide the agency name, name of the pre-registered attendee and the name of the substitute. Failure to attend or substitute personnel will result in registration fee forfeiture. CJIS Training Symposium On-Site Registration Attendees must be present at one of the On-Site Registration times, to receive training materials. Topics include misuse of criminal justice information and procedures to follow, if a violation occurs. Only command staff personnel may attend. P.O.S.T. credit will be granted. There is no cost for attendance and lunch will be provided prior to the session. Command Staff personnel may also attend the General Session, Wednesday and Thursday Breakout Sessions, as well as, visit the vendor exhibits. Attendees must complete Pre-Registration for the Executive Session through the following link: Page 4 of 8
5 CJIS Training Symposium Meals On Tuesday, August 19, 2014 and Wednesday, August 21, 2014, a light breakfast and Lunch is provided for attendees. Cost for breakfast and lunch is included in the registration fee. Light Refreshments will also be provided throughout the Symposium. CJIS Training Symposium Entertainment Georgia Association of Terminal Agency Coordinators will host a night of entertainment on Tuesday, August 19, DJ Chris Smith will provide music for the evening and light snacks will be served. Beverages will be available for purchase. 7 CJIS Training Symposium Tentative Training Topics ATF E-Trace: This class includes information on the electronic submission of firearm trace requests to the ATF s National Tracing Center. The class will provide details on how to obtain access, additional functions available, and the benefits of using e-trace. Audit Procedures 101: This class is designed for new and seasoned TACs of agencies that enter records or inquire into GCIC/NCIC, as well as 911 Centers. The class will focus on what to expect during the audit; how to prepare for the on-site audit; what documents are required; how to pack records and complete validations. Audit Updates and Mandatory Requirements: This class is designed for all agencies which receive a CJIS Audit. The class will focus on basic audit program changes regarding the FBI CJIS Security Policy and new GCIC/NCIC program updates. The class will focus on most common compliance issues and frequently asked questions. The class will also discuss new changes to the sex offender, N-DEx and the NICS audit. Executive Credit for Agency Heads: This session will provide a four hour block of instruction on GCIC related topics, specifically for criminal justice agency heads. Topics include misuse of criminal justice information and procedures to follow, if a violation occurs. Only command staff personnel may attend. Canadian File (CPIC): This class is designed as an introduction to the Canadian Police Information Center including information and resources available to American criminal justice agencies. Computer Lab: Hands-on demonstrations of GCIC applications including; CBT, CCH, LEMS Portal, On-Line Validations, SORT, and UCR Web. Consular Notification: This class is designed for the attendee to learn about local law enforcement's obligations to notify other nations when a foreign national is detained. Department of Driver Services: This class is designed to provide an update of changes and an overview of services available from Georgia s DDS. Fingerprint/Disposition Audit 101: This class is designed for all agencies which receive a Fingerprint/Disposition Audit. The class will focus on basic audit program changes and new GCIC/NCIC program updates. The class will focus on most common compliance issues and frequently asked questions. GCIC Record Restriction Updates: This class includes an overview, update and discussion of the local record expungement law, the process, requirements of the applicant, arresting agency, prosecutor and GCIC. Health & Wellness: Learn simple changes you can make in your day-to-day routine to lose weight, increase energy and improve overall health, and most importantly; DE-STRESS. Page 7 of 8
8 Human Trafficking: Human trafficking is often a hidden crime, learn how you can help combat human trafficking by learning how to identify victims so they can be rescued and their perpetrators brought to justice. Interpol: This class will provide an overview of the world s largest police organization. Interpol facilitates cross-border police co-operation, supports and assists all organizations, authorities and services whose mission is to prevent or combat crime. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE): ICE 101! Learn about the mission of ICE, their law enforcement resources and programs, as well as an overview of how to identify fraudulent immigration documents. Law Enforcement Support Center (LESC): The LESC is a national enforcement operations facility administered by ICE that provides local criminal justice agencies access to information on aliens suspected, arrested, or convicted of criminal activity. National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC): An overview of NCMEC, a private, non-profit organization that provides resources and technical assistance to law enforcement as they work to find missing children and combat child sexual exploitation. NCIC Gun File: Proper use of the NCIC Gun file, an NCIC file available for law enforcement use that contains information on stolen, lost, missing and/or recovered firearms. NCIC Updates: The latest information from NCIC including recent and upcoming changes. NCIC Next Generation: Information on the future of the FBI s identification systems that will include not only fingerprints but also multimodal biometrics (i.e., iris, facial, palm, etc.) to assist in the identification processes. National Criminal History Background Check System (NICS) Research Strategies 101: Resources available to Probate Court judges to assist in pistol permit approval process, and services offered by the FBI NICS section. Proper Use of Purpose Codes: An explanation of NCIC and Georgia specific purpose codes including when and how to use them and the importance of selecting the appropriate code(s). Sex Offender/Sex Offender Registry Tool Update: An overview of the Georgia Sex Offender Registry including a review of the recent updates to the public website and SORT. Time Management and Organizational Skills for the Criminal Justice Professional Work smarter not harder! Learn organizational skills, tools, hints and tips that will help you get more accomplished faster and with better results than ever before! Validation Update: This class is designed to provide information on the local agency validation process and the GCIC On-Line Validations Program, including helpful hints and common errors.
