2 WELCOME FROM YOUR STATE PRESIDENT On behalf of your State Officer team, I would like to thank each member for the opportunity to serve you this year. Serving as your State President has given me a love for FBLA-PBL that cannot be compared to any experience in my life. I thank you for your support, excitement, and inspirational dedication to this organization that brings us together as students and future business professionals. As we complete our 76th year of the national organization, I encourage you to think of what makes our organization successful. Who makes Future Business Leaders of America the prestigious business organization that prepares the future generation to follow their dreams, reach their goals, and Elevate their Future? As a State Officer, I have come to understand that we are a successful organization because of our dedicated members. I thank you for your hard work and passion for leadership. Your perseverance will continue to help you as you transition from school to work. In Anaheim this past summer, Missouri FBLA showed the country that we come to compete. Beyond the honor of numerous trophies and cash prizes, we ran a successful campaign for North Central Region Vice President. I cannot wait to see what we accomplish this summer in Baltimore, Maryland! Last year was full of conferences that started our year off with networking, learning, and fun! Our new summer conference, Creating Leaders & Unleashing Excellence (CLUE), was a great way to start the year. Our Show-Me Leadership Conferences are an annual time for us to experience G-Force Leadership!! In November, we had the opportunity to host the National Fall Leadership Conference in the gateway city of St. Louis and brought over 800 Missouri members that built themselves as leaders and experienced the City Museum! January and February have been full of competition preparation in hopes to see yourself on our Awards in Excellence stage in April. With that goal in mind, I would like to welcome you to Springfield, Missouri for our 2018 State Leadership Conference. Crush the competition, network with neighbors, and learn as leaders in order to Elevate Your Future! Congratulations to you, the members, on creating another year of memorable, Missouri FBLA. I hope this year was as picture perfect as you had anticipated. See you on stage! Sincerely, SADIE VERNON State President

11 LeadershipEXPO LeadX What started as 5-6 schools in 2013 has expanded to over 30 schools in the College and Career Fair. This year, we have made the LeadershipEXPO the destination for conference activities. The College & Career Fair, Officer Campaigning, Sponsor Fair, and TEAMTRI experiential activities (Leadership Labyrinth, The Gauntlet, and more!) are new and improved for everyone. LEADERSHIP GAUNTLET Members find out if they have what it takes to survive the Leader Gauntlet! They assemble a team of three (3) and test their wits, industry knowledge, and leadership skills as they tackle a full range of self-directed leadership stations! From showing off FBLA knowledge to demonstrating teamwork, to exploring the areas of their organization s mission, the Gauntlet will get students thinking, creating, and collaborating. THE LABYRINTH (Pre-Registration Required) Puzzle cards, locked boxes, and a missing archeologist Unlock the mystery of the coronation chest of a lost civilization before it s too late! The translation tablets of four ancient languages have disappeared with famed archeologist Dr. Michael Caster. Students will use communication, delegation, collaboration, problem-solving, and, ultimately, leadership to decode his notes, to open the chest, and to discover the secrets to the Leadership Labyrinth! COLLEGE & CAREER FAIR Encourage your students to meet with the many colleges and universities present. To get the most out of the experience, provide students with sample questions like those below. What are the general education requirements? What scholarships are available? Do you have a Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) chapter? How do students stay active physically and intellectually? What do students like to do the evenings or on weekends? What is the surrounding community like? How can I be involved in the community? ADVISER HOSPITALITY Advisers are welcome to enjoy the LeadershipEXPO, speaking with representatives from our various colleges and partners. In addition, complimentary hospitality is provided from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. 20 CURFEW, HOUSING, AND GENERAL RULES Good sleep leads to better memory, better performances, and a better overall conference experience. Students will be best prepared to enjoy the conference if they sleep well. Curfew is in effect at 11:00 PM each day of the conference. If students are in assigned rooms, check that students have not switched rooms. Students are assigned to rooms by you during the booking process, and Missouri FBLA-PBL receives a list for security purposes of student housing. If you change the students in a room, we kindly ask that you let the front desk know. Meet with your students prior to curfew to review the schedule for the next day and ensure all students know the policies and procedures. Please do not permit the students to remove their wristbands. The wristbands help staff easily know who your conference participants are as we travel to various locations. DINING Meals at the State Leadership Conference are not provided. Students should plan accordingly to eat at the hotel or the surrounding restaurants. Certain hotels booked through Missouri FBLA-PBL provide a complimentary breakfast. Please check with your property. Seniors who registered for the Senior Banquet will receive a complimentary, hot dinner on Monday evening from 5:00 PM - 6:15 PM. Advisers receive complimentary hospitality at the Leadership EXPO (LeadX) from 11:00AM - 1:00 PM on Monday. Advisers who are registered Professional Division Members receive access to exclusive hospitality from 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM on Monday at LeadX. The Adviser Reception, held in conjunction with the Blue Jeans for Babies Dance, will include complimentary dessert from 8:30 PM - 10:00 PM on Monday evening.
