Internships available in the greater Syracuse area, across the country, and even overseas!

CAMPUS RESOURCES Study Abroad Opportunities Le Moyne has exchange programs with England, Scotland, Czech Republic, Ireland, Germany, Spain, and the Dominican Republic. However, if a student wishes to participate in a non-le Moyne program, faculty/advisors will assist in making sure the institution is accredited and willing to participate with Le Moyne. Most students study abroad their junior year, but some choose to go during their senior or sophomore years typically for either one semester or a full year. Major/Minor requirements may factor into the time/length of travel. If Le Moyne does not already have an existing relationship with the desired place of study, students may be able to travel with other institutions. The Jesuit network expands study abroad opportunities Campus Ministry Le Moyne is an institution of the Catholic tradition, but is also of the Jesuit tradition. It is a place for all people of faith to come together and explore a common ground. Le Moyne offers students of other religions the opportunity to practice their faith through faith communities on campus, local faith groups within the community, and/or by oneself in a peaceful meditation room on campus. Le Moyne also recognizes celebrations in other religions. A protestant service is offered weekly on Sundays. Ways to get involved: - Campus Ministry Explore (offered to first year students the week prior to the school year) - Local Service Opportunities (D.I.V.E.) - Spiritual Retreats - Community Based Work-study (for qualified students seeking to work within the community) Mass and reconciliation are offered daily. Students are welcome to participate as lectors, Eucharistic ministers, or share in the celebration with their musical talents. Service Learning Opportunities Campus Ministry offers an Alternative Break Program where students can volunteer their services nationally and internationally. Le Moyne has programs available in Ecuador, Jamaica, El Salvador, New York City, just to name a few. Please direct any questions regarding Campus Ministry or Service Learning to campusministry@lemoyne.edu or (315)

COMMON QUESTIONS Application Process How do I apply? Students can apply utilizing the Le Moyne application and the Common Application. Note: application fees are waived for online applications. Freshman applicants: Freshman applicants should complete their application form and be sure to inform their guidance counselor when the application has been submitted. This will let guidance counselors know that an official high school transcript and recommendation should be submitted as well. Applicants are also required to submit a personal statement. Due to being test optional, students are no longer required to submit their SAT or ACT scores. However, to be considered for top merit scholarships and/or acceptance into special programs, test scores are required. Transfer applicants: Transfer applicants should complete the application form and submit it to the Office of Admission. Official copies of the academic transcripts from each previously attended college and high school should be requested from those institutions and forwarded to the Office of Admission as well. HEOP/AHANA Applicants: HEOP (Higher Educational Opportunity Program) is a program for NYS residents who are considered academically and financially disadvantaged, and show academic potential. AHANA (African- American/Hispanic/Asian/Native American Students) is a program for multicultural students who are considered academically disadvantaged. Students who might be interested in one of these programs should contact the Office of Admission or the Le Moyne Director of HEOP/AHANA at When do I apply? Freshman applicants: Early Action Application Deadline: November 15. Rolling Admission Priority Deadline (for scholarship consideration): February 1. o We suggest applicants submit their completed application to their guidance counselor around Thanksgiving. Transfer applicants: Transfer applicants should contact the Director of Transfer in the Office of Admission at When will I be notified of the admission decision? Early Action notification starts December 15. Rolling Admission notification starts January 1. Evaluation of the Application How are freshmen applicants evaluated? There is a two-part review process for admission: Academic Review: 16

Strength of curriculum Academic performance (GPA) SAT and/or ACT if applicable Class Rank (if provided by the high school) Character Review (Subjective Information): Extracurricular (Leadership positions, athletics, clubs, organizations, work experience, service) Recommendations Personal Statement Essay Interview, Recommended but not required for most programs. (Exceptions: HEOP/AHANA applicants, Direct Entry Physician Assistant Studies) When are Test Scores required? Test scores are required under the following circumstances: To be considered for top academic scholarships For the following programs: Physician assistant studies program Dual degree nursing program Early assurance to medical or dental school programs All Affiliated 3+3 and Affiliated 3+4 medical programs Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) If you have been Home Schooled If you are an international student for whom English is not a first language, and whose educational instruction was not in English for the greater part of your education experience How are Transfer applicants evaluated? Transfer applicants are reviewed for admission based on the cumulative quality point average of all previous college work. Most students with cumulative averages of 2.6 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) will be seriously considered for admission. Do you require personal interviews? While interviews are not required for most programs, students are encouraged to visit campus and meet with an admission staff member or with a trained alumni representative in their hometown. Prospective students can gain individual insights into all aspects of the college, as well as admission and financial aid processes by attending these interviews. Do you evaluate out-of-state applicants on the same basis as in-state applicants? The review process is exactly the same for both; there is an academic review and a character review for each applicant. 17

Academic Questions What high school GPA do I need to be accepted? Most students range from 85%-93% (B to B+). The average student has a 90% average. However, each application is unique and goes through a two-part review process, academic review and character review, for admission. What SAT/ACT do I need to be accepted? Le Moyne is now test optional. However, to be considered for top merit-based scholarships or acceptance into special programs (Direct Entry Physician Assistant Studies, Dual Degree Partnership in Nursing, HEOP/AHANA, Early Assurance Medical and Dental), test scores are still required. Students may contact the admission office by (admission@lemoyne.edu) or by phone ( ) for information regarding a specific program of interest. For international students, please refer to the international student admission requirements on Le Moyne s website. Does Le Moyne College have a major I am interested in? Refer to the View Book, or pages of this manual. Are there specific HS course requirements for admission? In NYS we typically look for students in a regents program. Competitive applicants will have a minimum of three (3) years math, science, and foreign language (some documented learning disabled students may be exempt from the foreign language requirement). Some students press on to four (4) years of math and science, or a foreign language. Will Le Moyne accept Advanced Placement (AP) credit? Yes. Scores of 3, 4, and 5 will be reviewed for credit. I took a course at a local college while I was in high school. Will Le Moyne accept the credit? Yes. As long as a student submits a transcript from that college indicating he or she achieved a letter grade of C or better, he or she will be considered credit. No credit will be received for courses taken Pass/Fail or for high school credit only. The Registrar s Office will make the final determination. What is your academic calendar? The college calendar is divided into two 15-week semesters and three summer sessions. The fall semester is completed prior to the December holidays and the spring semester concludes in early/mid-may. 18

Do you have Education as a major? The Jesuits have been known as the educators of educators for years. Out of 2,800 undergraduate students, approximately 800 are in our Education program which makes it is our largest program on campus. We offer certification in: Dual Childhood/Special Education (Grades 1-6) Middle Childhood Specialist (Grades 5-9) Adolescent Education (Grades 7-12) Dual Adolescent/Special Education (Grades 7-12) Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Students take 14 core curriculum classes. They also choose a major and receive a Bachelor s degree in that field of study (approximately 15 choices) and take all the necessary education classes for certification. This is very much like a dual-major. An education certification from an accredited institution in New York State is reciprocal for certification in most other states. Please contact the Office of Admissions or the Education Department for further explanations. *Education is the most popular program on campus. Residential Housing Questions What is it like to live on campus? 85% of freshmen live on-campus. 80% of all students live on-campus for four years. Housing facilities include doubles, suites, townhouses, and apartments. All facilities are wired so that each student has their own phone, voic , and computer port. Each room has cable television. Also, draw from your own positive experiences to answer this question. Cost, Financial Aid, Scholarship and Grant Questions How much does it cost to attend Le Moyne? The Cost for: See page 6. How do I apply for Financial Aid? To apply for financial Aid: The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) can be completed at fafsa.gov and can be submitted after October 1. Are there scholarships available? 19

Le Moyne has been ranked as a Best Value in US News and World Report, much due in part to the number of scholarship dollars we offer. All accepted students are eligible for merit-based scholarship consideration. Applicants receiving a merit-based scholarship are informed within their decision letter. A complete listing of scholarships and scholarship amounts are found on Le Moyne s website. A complete financial aid package is created utilizing merit-based scholarship dollars and the information received from the FAFSA. A complete package may include federal dollars, New York state dollars, Le Moyne scholarships, outside scholarships, Le Moyne grants, and loans. Additional questions regarding financial aid can be directed to the Le Moyne College Financial Aid Office at (315) Additional Questions Where is Le Moyne located? Le Moyne College is a suburban type campus with 160 acres located on the East-side of Syracuse, New York. It is a very green campus with modern facilities. Le Moyne also has the advantage of being located just outside of a mid-sized city and very near to a large university. Student s essentially get the best of both worlds. What type of computer facilities does Le Moyne have? Student accessible computer labs are located in every academic building, every residence hall, and the library. Many of the classrooms have been converted to Smart Rooms and each residence hall room has a port-for-every-pillow. What does being a Jesuit institution mean?
