1 BOARD OF DIRECTORS Arkansas Activities Association Board of Directors Thursday-Friday, January 15-16, 2015 The Board of Directors of the Arkansas Activities Association met on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at the AAA Building at 4 PM with President Rick McLaughlin, Hot Springs Lakeside, presiding. Other board members present were: Suzanne Bailey, Lonoke Scott Embrey, Beebe Bryan Law, Farmington John Ciesla, Greenwood Thomas Gathen, McGehee Jimmy Loyd, Two Rivers John L Colbert, Fayetteville Brian Golden, Malvern Jerry Newton, Poyen Jon Collins, West Memphis Kelvin Gragg, Dumas John Ward, Magnolia Joe Couch, Bergman Steve Green, Cave City Benny Weston, Mena Carl Easley, Wynne Gary Hines, Emerson-Taylor-Bradley Gary Williams, East Poinsett Co. Joe Mallett, St. Joseph Present from the AAA staff were Lance Taylor, Nick Lasker, Don Brodell, Joey Walters, Wadie Moore, Annette Savage and Amber Balboa. Guests included representatives of member schools and media representatives having an interest in the selection of sites for championship events CHAMPIONSHIP SITE SELECTIONS The board voted not to accept any late bids for the 2015 championship events. (Motion: Gragg/Colbert, 20-0) The board accepted all single bids for the 2015 championship events. (Motion: Loyd/Gragg, 20-0). The board authorized the AAA staff to secure sites for those events having no invitations. (Motion: Weston/Colbert, 20-0). The board voted to consider state bids before regional bids. (Motion: Loyd/Law, 20-0) The following were selected or reported as sites for 2015 championship events. All board members were present. AAA staff members present were Lance Taylor, Don Brodell, Joey Walters, Nick Lasker, Wadie Moore, Annette Savage and Amber Balboa. ARKANSAS DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION Hope Allen, Director of Student Assessment, presented the board with detailed information about the current testing schedules for Arkansas public schools. MINUTES The minutes of the board meeting of October 22, 2014 were unanimously approved as presented. (Motion: Couch/Newton, 20-0) FINANCIAL REPORT Amber Balboa presented the financial report as of December 31, FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS Don Brodell reported that the football finals went well and commented on the impact that the weather had on this year s football playoffs. SPRING SPORTS CONFERENCES The board unanimously approved conference assignments for Spring Sports conferences. (Motion: Gragg/Colbert, 20-0)
