1 Grants We award grants from charitable funds that donors establish so they can give back to the community today and for generations to come. Donors select from a range of options, choosing the level of involvement they prefer in making grant decisions. Some who want to ensure their gifts address the Fox Valley region s needs as they change through time make unrestricted gifts and leave grant decisions to community volunteers serving on our grants committees and Board of Directors. Most donors know the causes they want to support and establish types of funds that allow them to recommend grants. A small but growing number want to be partners in giving with us. For them, our staff will arrange conversations or site visits with charitable organizations, identify grant opportunities that match their charitable interests or provide other guidance. Other affiliated entities conduct their own grantmaking programs and receive support services from us. H o w to A p p ly f o r G r a n t s 1. Attend our workshops. Navigating Your Community Foundation and Writing a Compelling Grant Request workshops are held periodically to help grantseekers and others better understand potential funding opportunities, how the Foundation works, our granting policies, priorities, processes and factors that shape our grant decisions. Visit the calendar area on our web site at for workshop descriptions and dates. 2. Identify funds that are a fit. Consult the Grants & Nonprofits section of our web site to review our full application process and learn which funds accept grant applications. 3. Submit a grant application. Visit the Grants & Nonprofits section of our web site and complete the application form found on the grant guidelines page for each fund that awards competitive grants. Please contact Cathy Mutschler, Vice President Community Engagement, at x26 with questions.
