Situation update: 1.1 Recovery and response operations continue in the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. USAID has facilitated 38 commodity flights of internationally donated goods such as MREs, non-perishable food, generators, school supplies, shelter materials, emergency personnel, telecommunications equipment, and assorted emergency relief commodities. As of 17 September, shipments from the following EAPC countries have arrived: Austria (1), the Czech Republic (1), Finland (1), France (3), Germany (3), Italy (2), Luxembourg (1), Norway (2) Russia (3), Slovakia (2), Slovenia (1), Spain (2), Sweden (1) and the UK (11). On 16 September 05, USAID coordinated the ground transport of cots and blankets from Luxembourg, first aid supplies from Russia, plastic sheeting and cots from Austria and Slovakia to distribution centers in Ocean Springs, MS, New Iberia, LA, and Walicer, LA. To date, USAID has processed over 2,200 metric tons of donated goods at Little Rock Air Force Base (AFB). As of 16 September 05, USAID has transported 95 truckloads of foreign-donated commodities out of Little Rock AFB to distribution centers in Louisiana (65), Mississippi (24), Arkansas (4), and Texas (2). 1.2 NATO continues its airlift of European donations from Ramstein AB in Germany to Little Rock AFB in the US. Two NATO flights, one of which a Canadian Airbus A310, with 17 and 11 tons of freight respectively arrived in Little Rock AFB on 17 September. Further NATO flights carrying donations are scheduled for 19, 20, 21 and 23 September 05, with an Ukrainian AN-124 aircraft scheduled to fly on 20 September 05. All cargo from donating European nations will have been moved to Ramstein by 19 September 05, either by road NON - CLASSIFIED -1-

2 or by NATO tactical transport airplanes. It is estimated that by the 23 September 05 NATO airlift will have transported almost 200 tons of commodities from 9 Alliance and Partner nations. 1.3 US authorities have informed the EADRCC on 17 September 05 that parts of the offer of assistance from Greece have been accepted. 1.4 US authorities have informed EADRCC that they wish to have relief items donated by Allies and Partners to be delivered through the NATO air-bridge by 23 September 05 to Little Rock, Arkansas. 2. The NATO/EADRCC liaison officer to US authorities in Washington D.C. has completed his mission and will return to Brussels on 19 September Delivery point : Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas 4.
