1 5.U.S. and European Museum Infrastructure Support Program Application Form: Q-MIS Section in charge:international Operations Section I & II, Arts and Culture Department Outline This grant Program is designed to provide various supports for U.S. and European museums to develop their human resources and art to further promote effective use of their and thereby assist the establishment of an infrastructure to exhibit. Eligibility Any museum in the U.S. or Europe is eligible to apply for this Program as long as it satisfies both of the following two requirements. It has and has a permanent space specifically for. It has already employed a curator or plans to employ one. * In the case of a joint project by multiple museums, the following two requirements must be met: (i) One of the museums that satisfies the application requirements is capable of submitting an application as a representative of all of the museums, receiving a grant from the Japan Foundation, and appropriately using the grant; and (ii) All of the museums are located within the same country or region (in the case of a joint project in the U.S., all museums must be located in the U.S. In the case of a joint project in Europe, all museums must be located in Europe). Eligible Countries Institutions located in the following areas can submit applications. United States of America, Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyz Republic, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, Vatican 1

2 Eligible Projects The selection in August 2016 is for the projects as listed below which begin between August 2016 and March Applying institution can select and apply for multiple projects from the list. However, in principle, the maximum amount of a grant is US$ 100,000 per institution/fiscal year. If multiple projects are approved at the same time, the maximum amount of grants to be paid within one year to the grantee is also US$ 100,000 in total regardless of the number of the approved projects. We plan to provide continuous support for the maximum of five years in principle. Projects Details I. Increasing Support for creating new positions or increasing the number of specialized staff positions for staff specialized in (curators, assistant members curators, researchers, coordinators and educators) in charge of the preservation, storage, management, research and exhibition, etc. of II. Research, For the purpose of promoting research and survey on survey, and, i.e. Invitation of instructors from Japan, Study or publication of list of training tours to Japan for specialists of applicant institutions, Holding of research conference on, and Publication of list of. Exhibitions of Support for displaying owned by applicant institutions and for holding other exhibitions that take advantage of the Grant Coverage Part of the following expenses incurred and paid within the first year of the project period commencing between August 2016 and March 2017 will be covered by the first year s grant. 4 - Expenses for preparing catalogues and publicity materials (including digital catalogues) - Expenses for inviting experts (airfare, railway fare, accommodation costs) - Honorariums for interpretation or translation services and lectures Number of Grants None (as this is a new program starting from 2016) Selection Policy Each applicant should make sure that the project mentioned in the application satisfies the following requirements: A. The plan and method of the project are appropriate for the accomplishment of the proposed goal and are expected to produce substantial achievements; B. The project will not be carried out for religious or political purposes; C. The project will not be carried out for the purpose of profit; and D. The project will not be carried out to promote a specific idea, principle or political policy. This Program does not cover any project whose main purpose does not help the applying institution establish an infrastructure for collection and exhibition. [Examples] - A project related to any artistic field other than. - A project that involves Japan mainly for the purpose of sightseeing. (2)Screening will be conducted after consulting with outside specialists. (3)The following projects will be given a relatively higher evaluation: Projects in which posts that will be newly created or be increased by the support program are planned to be continuously maintained by the efforts of the applicant institution even after the grants from the Japan Foundation terminate will be examined for adoption with priority.
