New Year greetings to members of the Chapter! Another page of the calendar has become history, and we greet the New Year with vigor and enthusiasm. The Executive Committee is in place and is ready to serve our membership. Of particular importance for the New Year will be a concerted effort to improve our membership rolls with new colleagues. And keep in mind our program which will create a permanent endowment fund for ROTC cadet scholarships. Your involvement in the life and times of the Chapter is encouraged. Thank you Martina and George Boe Logan Caldwell WAYNE RITTER 1sr VP Speakers Topic: The importance of Ethanol and Biofuels and the impact they are having on the Gasoline and Corn Markets Logan Caldwell has over 30 years of commercial, engineering, operations, and strategic planning experience in the refining and petrochemical industries, including development of ethonol supply and overall biofuels strategies for a major oil company. Prior to starting Houston Biofuels Consultants LLC, Logan worked for Chevron, Exxon, Hess Oil and Air Products on both stateside and international assignments. He has an MBA in finance from Columbia Business School, a BS in chemical engineering from the University of Kentucky and grew up on a farm in central Kentucky. In his consulting business he advises clients on biofuels market, technologies and logistics issues. Logan is married and has three children, two in high school in Kingwood and one a freshman at the University of Texas.

6 Page 6 MILITARY OFFICERS ASSOCATION OF AMERICA Ed Hale ROTC ROTC It has been the practice of MOAAHA to present medals to deserving young ROTC and JROTC students in several South Texas High Schools and Universities. Questions have arisen concerning the criteria used for the recipients of these medals. The HAROA Executive Committee formed a study group which placed in writing a set of guidelines for all interested parties. The study group consisted of current ROTC instructors with first hand data; former ROTC instructors, now retired; retired officers who began their military careers in ROTC; retired officers who have worked in the program for years, including procurement, distribution, coordination of people to make the presentations and the presentations themselves. The guidelines are as follows: * Have completes 2nd or 3rd year of ROTC * Demonstrated patriotism or integrity * Proven academic excellence with a grade point average of at least 2.5 and a military average of 3.1 or better * Displayed leadership by having achieved the rank of NCO or commissioned officer Nominations must be forwarded to COL Ed Hale, by mail 2292 Jean St Houston, TX , no later than 31 March. Please provide me with the date, tine and place of the award ceremony along with directions;also, name and phone number of person to contact for additional information.
