3 Port Security Worldwide Most Ports around the World have had there assessments and adhered to the ISPS Code and continue to develop and put better security in place for there Facility's However in my Experience there are situation around the world that have not done every thing they are supposed to either by, not enough funding, or by choice. 8/2/2005 Title of presentation 3

6 Terrorism As we sit here there are 210 Conflicts Worldwide. At least 90 different Organisation who want to Disrupt our way of life. Not all Muslim, what about some of the splinter groups living on your own door step, with Various reasons to cause death and disruption. 8/2/2005 Title of presentation 6

7 Maritime Terrorism Historically, rare target > 2% international incidents over past 30 years. Reason Why not a common target > Most terrorist groups have little experience in the maritime environment > Less media attention when attack at high sea > Abundance of land targets that are more vulnerable 8/2/2005 Title of presentation 7

11 Maritime Trade in the U.S.A is a Very Attractive Target Increase in Global commercial Maritime Traffic More container traffic than ever before Vessels coming out insecure Waters < Therefore: reduced recourses for coastal surveillance> < Increased incentives to engage in maritime terrorism. 14 What Next and Why Back to Basics ensure all port personnel including office staff are briefed and trained regularly. Try and get as much intelligence as possible for your security personnelp Ensure the P.F.S.P is updated and amended regularly, don t wait till the next assessment or practice drill.
