As times change so does the nature of the threats against modern society and S.O.T.U. is committed to staying one step ahead and offer our clients the most comprehensive and most professional security training. Our courses are designed and delivered by experienced security professionals with a rich operational background in the Royal Dutch Marines, as well as hands-on experience in various security operations including protection of HNWI, formal state visits and major events. 3 Our Courses At S.O.T.U., security is not one-size-fits-all. Each task and facility have their own unique requirements and restrictions. Our courses prepare learners to perform security related duty based on an understanding of their environment, the potential threats and the client s needs. We also understand that not everything can be taught at once and some things can only be learned through experience. 4 Security Guard Course Target audience: Individuals assigned to carry out security related duties in a facility, area or event. Duration: 60 hours over 8 weekly sessions. The right person at the right place, with the right training, can make all the difference in the world when it comes to preventing and minimizing damage to the organization. This unique course offers a comprehensive provision of knowledge in all aspects of physical security and will give learners the skills to execute their duties efficiently, professionally, safely and legally. The core modules of the course include: And more Roles and responsibilities of a Security Guard Relevant legislation Health and Safety on duty Patrol duties Access control duties Reporting and Record Keeping Threat sources Crime and Terrorism Communication procedures Emergency response procedures We give you time to breathe The course is especially designed to be delivered in weekly sessions, in order to allow learners to study without taking a whole week off work at once, as well as to give learners time to absorb and review each session before the next one begins. Tailored to the client s needs Our instructors possess a rich and diverse background in the security industry. We will ensure that learners are learning material that s relevant to their assigned duties (hotel security, marina security, nightclubs, banks, residential security etc.) Certification: A S.O.T.U. 5 Security Supervisor Course Target audience: Lower/Middle managers assigned to oversee and supervise security operations in one or multiple areas and Security Officers designated for promotion This course will give learners valuable tools to help them carry out supervisory duties on behalf of the protected organisation or the security company. The role of the Security Supervisor is critical in maintaining a high level of performance, with the supervisor serving as both a manager and an examiner of the Security party on site. Conducted as a combination of classroom learning and practical exercises, this course will prepare its graduates to take on the responsibilities of a Security Supervisor and guide them toward effective decision-making in routine and emergency situations. The topics covered in this course include: Roles and responsibilities of a supervisor Emergency management Conducting a performance evaluation Welfare & Administration of personnel Reporting and record keeping And more Certification: A S.O.T.U. 6 Keyholding / Reception Security course Target audience: Individuals responsible for opening/closing the venue and/or tasked with manning the reception during business hours. Receptionists and Keyholders are the first point of contact for customers and clients visiting your premises, as well as the first responders to incidents which threaten the safety of the venue and its occupants. Based on the understanding that a receptionist or keyholder are much more than a friendly face that answers calls, this course covers all the operational skills that are required from a security guard manning the reception desk. Course topics include: Responsibilities and duties Closing and opening the venue Customer service Dealing with security-related situations Scenario-based simulations Certification: A S.O.T.U. Keyholder / Reception Security Guard certificate will be awarded to each participant that completes the course successfully.

7 Event Security course Target audience: Security guards assigned to protect mass crowd events such as KLM Aruba Marathon, music festivals, international conferences and football matches. This course trains its learners to carry out security-related duties at large events effectively and efficiently, in order to ensure the complete security and safety of the event participants with minimal disturbance to the event production and crowd flow. Mass crowd events are very different from protecting static facilities and require skilled security guards that are able to operate both as a team and independently when conducting the various security duties associated with large crowds or responding to criminal or terrorist attempting to harm the participants or disrupt the event itself. 8 Event Security Team Leader course Target audience: Team Leaders responsible for the management of a security team in mass crowd events such as KLM Aruba Marathon, music festivals, international conferences and football matches, as well as experienced Event Security Guards designated for promotion. Major events are a complicated security task, requiring a high level of real-time supervision and adaptation to the reality of the moment. A skilled Security Team Leader is a key element when it comes to managing security guards on the ground and coordinating between the event production management, the event s chief of security and the security guards on the ground. This course prepares its learners for the mission of leading a security team at major events in routine and emergency situations. Some of the topics covered are: Types of events Objectives of security at the event Team Leader roles and responsibilities Preparation for the event Duties during the event Responding to emergencies Liaison with government agencies at the event And more Certification: A S.O.T.U. 9 Mobile Patrol Officer Course Target audience: Security guards assigned to carry out mobile patrol duties in residential/commercial areas and properties This course provides learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct mobile patrol duties safely and efficiently, allowing them to cover a large territory and respond quickly to security incidents in various locations. More than simply a security course, S.O.T.U. understands the responsibilities and risks associated with driving a car and conducting inspections at night and as such we focus heavily on operating according to the law, driving safely in an emergency and responding correctly to both mechanical and situational emergencies. The course topics include: Building inspections Alarm patrols Responding to complaints Patrol vehicle maintenance Communication How to deal with loiterers Handling escalations And more Certification: A S.O.T.U. 10 Active Shooter Response course Target audience: Businesses, Education Institutes and Public facilities who wish to increase their employees /customers /visitors safety but do not employ professional security on site. The increasing global threat of violent crime and terrorism inspires and encourages independent actors ( Lone Wolves ) to carry out random, uncoordinated attacks against civilian targets. Recent attacks show that such incidents, titled Active Shooter Scenarios by the FBI, almost always result in catastrophic damage to the organization on multiple levels - From the immediate casualties to the future consequences of compensation claims, loss of clientele and drastic drop in employee productivity as a result of trauma. The same recent attacks also show that the extent of the damage can be significantly reduced by ordinary civilians, who are trained to respond correctly to such attacks by disrupting the flow of events and buying time for evacuation and the arrival of emergency services.
