Second annual report presented to the Board June 23, 2014! Charge, by the School Board, was given to the Anoka- Hennepin Anti-Bullying/Anti-Harassment Leadership Team to develop a plan for addressing the community task force recommendations.! Anti-Bullying/Anti-Harassment Task Force recommendations have been and continue to be examined for immediate, intermediate and long term actionable items by the Anoka-Hennepin Anti-Bullying/Anti-Harassment Leadership Team.!
10 Considerations! Factors! Anti-Bullying/Anti-Harassment Guiding Principles (adopted by the School Board Oct. 28, 2013) are based on the vision, mission and core values of the Anoka-Hennepin School District.! District policies, state and federal laws, consent decree, and current capacity (people, time, budget) were considered in developing action items.! Action items, including the roles of the internal leadership team and the community task force, were developed for each! of the recommendations.!

13 2013 Recommendation 1! Framework for continuance of task force! We recommend the School Board consider the following framework for future task force membership and work:! Currently appointed members should be invited to continue on the task force for the upcoming year. Task force members who choose not to return should be replaced to keep the task force membership to members.! Student members should include five high school students.! Future task force activities should incorporate student and parent panels or listening sessions.! The task force should continue to meet for two hours once a month during the academic year.! Subcommittees should be formed to research specific topics of interest. Subcommittee work should be shared with the task force at regular task force meetings.! Increase the diversity of members of the task force.! Trained, external facilitators should continue to be used to facilitate the meetings.! We recommend including anti-bullying/cyberbullying/harassment education and bystander empowerment education across the district for every student at every grade level throughout the school year. Peer mediation should continue to be promoted and supported to help students resolve conflict early.! The district should explore utilizing a grant writer to obtain additional funding for anti-bullying/anti-harassment efforts.! We recommend the Anoka-Hennepin Anti- Bullying/Anti-Harassment Leadership Team work in partnership with the task force to further explore the many ideas outlined in Appendix B.! Increase adult presence in unstructured common places in middle schools through the use of volunteer school ambassadors.! 3. Honor and celebrate the contributions of diverse people and families in our community, country and world, including the LGBT community.! 4. Provide comprehensive communication about safety and inclusiveness for all people in our schools.! 5. Increase messages of kindness in the Anoka-Hennepin community.!
