3 Letter from the Fire Training Coordinator Thank you for taking the time to look at our Spring 2009 Course Catalog. I expect that you will be happy with the contents. We have developed a few new classes and continue to offer other classes that we know the fire service wants and enjoys. Please let us know if there is a specific class or program that you or your department needs. New Jersey has now released Firefighter 2 Certification. We will be offering the full program as well as offering certification challenge exams. We are offering one challenge exam this semester at the Brick Township Fire Training Center. If we find that the Ocean County Fire Service wants additional offerings we will be more than happy to accommodate that need before the next course book is out. We are also preparing a Fire Officer 1 challenge exam to be offered in the fall. Our new FAST Team Operations program is being offered this semester. This program meets and exceeds the new state requirements. We feel this program will prepare our county certified teams with the training needed to provide a safe efficient rescue if needed. The New Year often brings some changes in departments. Please make sure that the Academy has the correct phone numbers and addresses for your fire departments chief officers and training officers. We also ask the Chiefs to update your insurance certificates. If you need help with this please contact Cathy or I here at the Academy. We were able to work out the issues with the NJ Department of Health in the last few weeks and are again able to offer EMT C.E.U.s for our approved classes. As always I want to remind you that the training grounds continue to be available at no cost to our Departments for drills and training. We ask that you give us at least two weeks notice so that we can provide staff. I want to again thank the other training facilities in Ocean County for the continued cooperation and partnerships that we have forged over the years. I also want to thank our instructors who continue to offer high quality instruction to our students. I look forward to seeing all of you in training programs here during the upcoming year. Fraternally, Raymond Van Marter Deputy Fire Marshal/Fire Training Coordinator OCEAN COUNTY TRAINING CENTER Call for information (609) or (800)
