STUDENTS WHO ARE UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE MUST SEND A COPY OF WORKING PAPERS WITH APPLICATION. May 12, 19 & 20, 2018 VEHICLE RESCUE AWARENESS NVRA 24 HOURS PREREQUISITE: NONE Must be at least 16 y.o. CE # hours 2/8 This is the first of a two course series, jointly sponsored by the Academy and the Department of Health EMS Office. Successful completion of both modules within eighteen months will earn the student joint SFA/DOH certification as a Vehicle Rescue Technician. The Pennsylvania Vehicle Rescue Training Curriculum places emphasis upon the development of knowledge and skills to be used by rescue personnel to achieve a safe and efficient vehicle rescue operation. While not teaching patient care, i.e. medical treatment, this program will provide those rescue personnel with no formal medical training with a strong orientation to patient related rescue. Upon the completion of this course the student will have an understanding of vehicle rescue, hazards of vehicle rescue operations, ICS phases of vehicle rescue. The student will also have a understanding of vehicle technology and design. This course is intended for personnel who need to have an awareness of vehicle rescue operations and how to assist a rescue company at a rescue scene. Student will need: the Jones and Bartlett Vehicle Extrication I and II Principles and Practice Manual, SKU: to take the class. TOG and eye protection May 19, 2018 PEDIATRIC INTERNATIONAL TRAUMA LIFE SUPPORT ITLS-P 8 HOURS Con Ed 8 hrs Prequisite: Current Adult ITLS Card ITLS Pediatric focuses on the special needs of young trauma patients. In 8 hours, you will learn the principles of proper assessment, management, critical interventions, patient packaging, and rapid transport. You also will practice proven techniques for communicating with young patients and their parents. The practical skills you gain will enable you to feel confident and competent when you care for a critically injured child. Course Content This course will utilize the 3rd Edition Pediatric Trauma Life Support for Prehospital Care Providers Manual. 3 requirements for annual refresher training per NFPA May 19 & 20, 2018 INCIDENT RESPONSE TO OIL/GAS WELL EMERGENCIES BGWF 16 HOURS PREREQUISITE: ELIF, EBM, FF-I OR HMOR This Butler County Community College Custom Course has been designed to educate firefighters on methods of production, hazards, response, safety concerns, fire extinguishment and incident termination when confronted with a gas/oil emergency. Student will need: TOG, SCBA W/SPARE CYLINDER NO FACIAL HAIR PERMITTED CHAIN SAW SAFETY CSS 8 HOURS Teaches First Responders the proper way to use a chainsaw to prevent injury to the user and by-standers. ADVANCED LOGGER RESCUE ALRT 8 HOURS: This FREE 1-day program was designed to educate students on how to become rescuers, to protect the patient, and prevent rescuers from becoming victims themselves. Classes are scheduled annually, one (1) year in advance. The following classes are presented to meet the minimum requirements for Fire Police to qualify for PA State Line of Duty Death Benefit. Although this class is geared to the needs of Fire Police it is open to everyone. FIRE POLICE HAZMAT AND FIRE EXTINGUISHER TRAINING HMAFE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS AWARENESS LEVEL HMA 4 HOURS PREREQUISITE: NONE CE # hours 0/4 This course will provide instruction in the basic skills of identifying hazardous materials problems in a community, recognize hazardous materials presence, identify hazardous materials and the associated hazard characteristics. EMPLOYEE SAFETY & FIRE EXTINGUISHER TRAINING 4 HOURS PREREQUISITE: NONE This class will provide Fire Police with the basic knowledge of the different types of fire extinguishers and the skills needed to utilize them in an emergency situation. It will also cover Chemistry of Fire/Fire Behavior. Instructor: Mike Burgoon ROPE HIGH ANGLE RESCUE I RORA 16 HOURS PREREQUISITE: RORE CE # hours 3.5/3.5 This course provides the student with an in depth and hands-on experience with rope and rappelling. Current equipment, skills and knowledge will be developed to effectively and safely perform vertical rescues. The course builds on the skills and knowledge developed in Rope High Angle Rescue. 4 This course will develop basic skills and knowledge needed by entry level wildland firefighters that will enable them to fight wildfires under the supervision of a fire warden or experienced wildland firefighter. The course emphasizes safety, basic skills and teamwork in preparing individual wildland firefighters to work together as an effective firefighting unit. Student Equipment / Supply Needs: Notebook; pen & pencil; Field exercises require student to wear leather, non-composition, lug sole, 8 top (minimum) boots; leather gloves; non-synthetic long sleeved shirt, non-synthetic, cuffless pants (Nomex is acceptable); non-metalic hard hat with chin strap and eye protection. DCNR Instructors 4 5 April 7 & 8, 2018 RESPIRATORY PROTECTION II REPA 16 HOURS PREREQUISITE: ELIF or REPR CE # hour 0/1 This enhanced training builds on the basic skills learned in the prerequisite. It will enhance the abilities of SCBA users, build their confidence in using the apparatus, and prepare them for the more complex situations that they may encounter (i.e. rapid intervention team work, restricted horizontal/vertical spaces, etc.) Instructor: John Riggle Student will need: TOG or other appropriate PPE, SCBA BASIC RIGGING FOR ROPE RESCUE ROBR 16 HOURS PREREQUISITE: ELIS or IST CE # hours 2/0 This course is designed for personnel whose duties require training in basic rope rescue knowledge s and skills, but not in rappelling. Students are introduced to rope construction, rope characteristics, rope hardware and various knots and hitches. They will participate in patient packaging and stokes litter handling exercises, and will be trained in practical haul systems and their uses. Students will need: List supplied to enrollees upon enrollment Instructor: Ernie Early April 7, 2018 HAZMAT OPS REFRESHER HMORJB 6 HOURS PREREQUISITE: HMO, DHMO, HMOJB This program was designed as an annual core refresher training for students who have taken Hazardous Materials Operations (HMO) Level 472 course. The refresher provides hands on opportunities to exhibit the practical skills learned as part of that program. Instructor: Bruce Manning April 8, 2018 EMS CON-ED CON-ED 8 HOURS PREREQUISITE: NONE This course provides a time to update Continuing Education Hours for EMS Personnel. Topics will vary. Class will be taught by City of Bradford Paramedics. BUILDING CONSTRUCTION: WOOD AND ORDINARY (NFA) BCP 16 HOURS PREREQUISITE: ELIS This course provides the student with information on how the construction type, alterations, design and materials influence a buildings reaction to fire. The student will assess building stability and resistance to fire, locate hazards and determine likely paths of fire extension. This continually updated program will include all types of new and lightweight construction techniques and the hazards they present.
