1 405 About the Contributors Ayaz Ahmad is currently serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Wah Cantt., Pakistan. He obtained his MS and Ph.D. degrees both in Telecommunication from Ecole Superieure d Electricite (Supelec), Gif-sur-Yvette, France, in 2008 and 2011, respectively. He obtained his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, Pakistan in From 2006 to 2007, he was a faculty member at the Department of Electrical Engineering, FAST-NUCES, Peshawar, Pakistan. Ayaz has several years of research experience and has authored/co-authored several scientific publications in various refereed international journals and conferences. He has also published several book chapters. He is regularly serving as TPC member for several top class international conferences and as reviewer for several renowned international journals. Sadiq Ahmad did his graduation in Electrical Engineering from UET Peshawar, Pakistan in 2009, and MS in Electrical Engineering (Power) from CIIT Pakistan, in Since Feb 2015 Sadiq is a student of PhD in Electrical Power Engineering in COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) Pakistan. He served in water and power development authority (WAPDA) Pakistan for one year and then joined Etisalat telecommunication company till April Currently Mr. Sadiq Ahmad working in CIIT Pakistan, as Lecturer in Electrical Engineering Department. His research interests include energy efficiency and optimization issues in power systems and smart grid. Adnan Al-Anbuky received his BSc, MSc and Ph.D. degrees from Baghdad University, Salford University/UK and UMIST/UK. During 1975 to 1995 he has assumed a number of positions including being dean of the faculty of engineering at Yarmouk University of Jordan. Professor Al-Anbuky joined Switchec/ NZ on 1996 and established an industrial research unit for the telecommunication power system monitoring. Late 2005 he joined AUT as a professor and head of EEE department. He has established the Sensor Network and Smart Environment research center late The current research focus is

Farooq Alam completed his bachelors in electrical engineering from UET Peshawar (Pakistan) in March After graduation he remained attached to Siemens Pak Engg Co Ltd for five years. Completed his masters in Telecommunication from BTH, Sweden, in December Now associated with CIIT wah Campus for the past ten years. Also pursuing his PhD degree in wireless communication from the same institute. Quan Bai is currently a senior lecturer at Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. Dr Quan Bai s research is mainly focused on multi-agent coordination, trust analysis and mining and agent-based modelling for complex systems. He has more than 60 research publications in related fields. Chitti Babu Baladhandautham received the B.E. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, India, the M.E degree in power electronics and drives from Anna University Chennai, India, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, India, in 2003, 2006, and 2012, respectively. He is currently a Post doc Research Fellow at VSB-Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic since Sep He has visited The politecnico di Milano (POLMI), Italy for the duration of three months as a part of proposed post-doc research work. He is a recipient of STRoNGTiES-European Fellowship to carryout Post-Doc research work at Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland from December 2013 to June His research interests include power electronics applications in smart distribution grid containing renewable energy sources, low power electronics design, including PV energy systém. He is a senior member of IEEE since Elmar Bollin studied Mechanical Engineering at Technical University Karlsruhe. From 1982 until 1993 he was scientific employee at Fraunhofer Institute of Solar Energy Systems ISE at Freiburg. Since 1993, he is Professor at University of Applied Sciences Offenburg, with focus on control systems and solar energy systems. He is the head of the research institute for energy systems INES at Hochschule Offenburg. Deepranjan Dongol was born in Nepal. He did his BE in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Kathmandu University, Nepal. In 2013, he completed M.Sc. degree in Power Engineering at the Technical University of Munich, Germany. Currently he is pursuing his Ph.D. degree at the Institute of Energy Systems (INES), University of Applied Sciences Offenburg, Germany, in co-operation with the University of Freiburg, Germany. His PhD dissertation focuses on smart integration of storage based renewable energy system to the grid. Thomas Feldmann studied Technical Cybernetics at the University of Stuttgart and is working since 2003 as a Scientist at the University of Applied Sciences at the Institute for Energy Systems in the Research Group Sustainable Energy Technology. Main topics of his work are predictive building automation, predictive energy management systems and the dynamic simulation of buildings and energy systems. 406

3 Sajjad Hussain is Associate Professor at Electrical Engineering Department, Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU), Islamabad. He did his PhD in 2009 from University of Rennes 1, Rennes in Electrical Engineering. He is focused to research in sensing algorithms for Cognitive Radios, cross layer optimization in Cognitive Radio networks along with demand response of Smart Grids. Tariq Javid is working as an Associate Professor at Hamdard University, Karachi. He completed his PhD in 2010 from National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad. He has over seventeen years of experience which includes Information Technology management, teaching, and research. His research interests include digital image processing and information systems. Saad Salman Khan did his BSc Electrical Engineering from Iqra University, Karachi, Pakistan, and his MS in Electrical Power Engineering from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Wah Cantt, Pakistan. He is Lecturer in IQRA National University Peshawar Pakistan. William Liu received his PhD and Masters (with distinction) in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. He is currently a senior lecturer at School of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, Auckland University of Technology. In general, his research interest is in the design and performance evaluation of infrastructures and protocols for packet-oriented networks. He is working especially in the areas of network dependability, survivability, sustainability and trustworthy computing. Daud Mustafa Minhas received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in the Department of Electrical Engineering from University of Lahore, Lahore, Pakistan in 2008 and 2011, respectively. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Muhammad Ali Jinnah University, Islamabad, Pakistan. Since 2008, he also has been a Lecturer and then an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering of University of Lahore, Pakistan. His research interests includes power systems load modeling, load and supply balancing, scheduling policy design in smart grid, grid optimization and power flow control. Mohamayee Mohapatra received the B.E degree from Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela, India, in 2003, and the M.Tech degree from National Institute of Technology Rourkela, India, in She is currently working as Assistant Professor in IGIT Sarang, Odisha, India. Directed the team of consultants for energy optimization studies of Asil Çelik Co., first World Bank assisted and funded project won by a Turkish University in an international bid. Founded the engineering faculty of Yeditepe University and became its first dean. Also initiated the graduate studies for the university including systems engineering graduate program specifically designed for Turkish military. Experience includes forty years of teaching, including advising for over 25 Ph.D. students. His latest publication is Electrical Energy Production Technologies and Energy Efficiency, a four volume book which has been financed by EU Euroelectric s Turkish Branch and it will be distributed to university students to be used as course text and reference book. Alper Ozpinar has obtained his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from Yildiz Technical University. He also holds an MS degree in Systems Engineering from Yeditepe University and BS degree in Chemical Engineering from Bogazici University, all located in Istanbul Turkey. His field of expertise include, application of various computer and information systems to different fields of engineering, especially energy, demand side management, environmental health and safety, renewable energy sources, industrial automation and control, automatic data collection systems, systems modeling and simulation. He has seventeen years of experience in computer and software applications last twelve years of which has been focused on environmental and energy field. Served as a consultant and project manager for government organizations like Ministry of Forestry and Environment, Greater Municipality of Istanbul moreover international companies like ABB, Toyota, Bosch, Siemens. He has also worked part time and full time as instructor at different universities and departments given courses related with Cloud Computing, Computer Networks, Programming with different programming languages such as ASP.NET, VB.NET, C++, Java, Numerical Analysis, Artificial Intelligence and Database Systems. He has a vast experience in artificial intelligence applications such as smart grids, artificial neural networks, artificial intelligence, fuzzy logic, genetic algorithm applications. Russel Pears is an Associate Professor in the School of Computer and Mathematical Sciences at the Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. His recent research is mainly in the areas of Data Mining and Machine Learning but he retains a basic interest in the area of algorithms in general. He has published over 75 papers in the areas of Data Base Systems, Data Mining and Network performance in leading International Conferences and Journals. Liping Qian received her PhD degree in Information Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Hong, Hong Kong, in She is currently an Associate Professor in the College of Computer Science and Technology at Zhejiang University of Technology, Hangzhou, China. She was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, during Her research interests lie in the areas of wireless communication and networking and smart grids. Jianhui Wong received her B.Eng (Hons) and MEng Sc degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia in 2009 and She is currently pursuing her PhD degree and joined Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman as a lecturer. Her interests include power system analysis, fuzzy control, power quality and renewable energies. 8 Raziq Yaqub earned a Ph.D. in Wireless Communication from Keio University, Japan, and MBA in Marketing from Fairleigh Dickenson University, USA. He is one of the pioneers of LTE/4G, and an inventor of numerous technologies of 4th Generation Wireless Communication, and Smart Grid. He received Inventor of the Year Award from the Governor of the State of New Jersey, USA, through Inventors Hall of Fame. Dr. Yaqub remained an Executive Director of Toshiba America Research, Sr. Consultant to the State of New Jersey, a spokesperson in 3GPP on behalf of Department of Homeland Security, an Associate Professor at University of Tennessee, and a Director of Technical Training, for NIKSUN, a global leader in Cybersecurity, headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey. Currently he is a faculty member of Rowan University, Glassboro, New Jersey. Dr. Yaqub is also skilled in teaching, conducting research, developing new graduate level courses, and building industry-academia collaboration. Some of the new courses he developed and delivered include Smart Grid, 4G Networks, and Advanced Metering Infrastructure and Cyber Security. He has been teaching graduate students of CECOS University Peshawar online via Skype. Li Yu received the B.S. degree in control theory from Nankai University, Tianjin, China, in 1982, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China.
