I completed the MSc in Nursing at Queen Margaret University in 2006, and the PhD in nursing in the University of Edinburgh in The British-China Education trust granted me a Chinese Student Award ( 3000) in my final year of PhD study in the UK. After two years teaching back to China, I have worked as a postdoctoral fellow under the supervision of Professor Heather Laschinger in the Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing, University of Western Ontario, Canada since Sept 1 st I also attended one year intensive Canadian Health Information Management (HIM) training project from August 2016 to November 2017, which particularly focuses on the Canadian HIM Coding Standards based on International Statistical Classification of Disease and Health Related Problems, tenth revision (ICD-10-CA), and the Canadian Classification of Health Interventions (CCI). Currently I am working as a senior lecturer in Nursing Studies, Medical School, Zhejiang University in China. 1

2 My research interest and attitudes My research interests include nursing workforce issues, safety and quality of health care, children s pain management and family relationships with sick children, nursing ethics and other sociological perspectives on health care systems. I was the team leader of two completed research projects funded by the Medicine and Health Science Research Foundation of Zhejiang Province in China: To understand the postoperative pediatric pain assessment from Chinese nurses perspective, and Investigating the mobility of the nursing workforce from 2005 to 2009 in Zhejiang province. My doctoral study ( ) in Edinburgh University was focused on the issues of the nursing workforce mobility in China, investigating nurses who left clinical care by face-to-face interviewing, which added to an understanding of how nurses evaluated their education and work experiences during their nursing career. From a grounded theory approach, the theoretical understanding framework also illuminates how diversity in education, organizational culture and economic policy in health care impacted on nurses career decision making. My postdoctoral research in the University of Western Ontario was carried out working with Professor Heather Laschinger to further understand the power relationships in nursing workforce management from the Chinese nursing managers perspective. During this year, I have had the opportunity to learn advanced statistics at the Ivey Business School and the Statistics school in the Western University. It is a privilege for me to closely work with Professor Laschinger from a quantitative approach in analyzing the Canadian National dataset, which aims to investigate new graduates work experience in their first three years of employment. It allows me to practice SPSS, SEM and Amos by working with our dynamic research team members. My current research interests focus on nursing ethics and nursing knowledge transfer. The main duties are teaching nursing theories and supervise postgraduate students, as well as to establish international collaboration for the university educational and research development. 2
