1 UW-Superior Foundation and Trust Fund Scholarships Numerous awards are given to incoming freshmen students on the basis of academic merit, intended major, and other criteria. Some scholarships are renewable if the specified criteria continue to be met, and may not be available for awarding in the current year. For incoming students, the application for admission to UW-Superior is also the scholarship application. Students will be notified if they qualify for a Foundation or Trust Fund scholarship. Scholarships are made possible through the generosity of the many alumni and friends of UW-Superior. Full Tuition Scholarships: Swenson Family Foundation Scholarship Full-tuition scholarship plus $1,000 a year for books or other fees for eight incoming freshmen students of academic merit who major in biology or chemistry. Students must also have financial need. The scholarship is renewable for three additional years for full-time students who maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA and continue to major in biology or chemistry. Eight new recipients are chosen each year. Leland T. Dutton Scholarship Full-tuition scholarship plus $1,000 a year for books or other fees for two incoming freshmen students with financial need, evidence of leadership potential (extra-curricular activities, community involvement, work, etc.), and received a 23 or higher on the ACT or an equivalent SAT score. Parent or Grandparent must be UW-Superior alumni. The scholarship is renewable for three additional years for full time students who maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA. New students are selected every four years. Stuart J. and Florence S. Erickson Scholarship Full tuition scholarship for an incoming freshmen student graduating in the top 25 percent of their high school class. Special consideration given to Native American applicants. Students must be enrolled full time and show financial need. The scholarship is renewable for three additional years for full time students who maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA. A new student is selected every four years.

2 Renewable Scholarships: CN Transportation and Logistics Management Scholarship Two $2,000 scholarships for incoming freshman with a Transportation and Logistics Management major with an emphasis in rail study. This scholarship is renewable for three additional years if the student maintains a 3.0 GPA and continues to major in Transportation and Logistics Management with a rail focus. Two new recipients are chosen each year. Mark and Mary (Milchesky) Kotter Scholarship For two incoming freshmen students from rural Douglas County, WI and graduates of Superior High School with financial need. This scholarship is renewable for three additional years as long as the recipient maintains a 3.0 or higher GPA. New students are selected every four years. Awards are typically around $3,000 per year. Roger H. and Jane L. (DeBruyne) Nelson Scholarship $2,500 scholarship for incoming freshmen students who are one of the top five graduating seniors or have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater at Solon Springs High School. The scholarship will be renewed for three additional years if the student maintains a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA. One new student is chosen each year. Sentry Insurance Student Leadership Scholarship $2,500 scholarships for two incoming freshmen students majoring in business administration, computer science, accounting, finance, or mathematics (actuarial science). The recipients of the award are initially selected based on the following criteria: 1) Credentials that place them in the top 15 percent of their high school graduating class. 2) Involvement in extracurricular activities, community activities, charitable organizations, and other endeavors which indicate significant leadership records and outstanding leadership potential. This scholarship is renewable for three additional years as long as the recipient maintains a minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA and continues to pursue a degree in one of the above areas of study. Two new students are chosen each year. Yellowjacket Scholarship For incoming freshmen students. Scholarship will be renewed for three additional years if student maintains a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA and full-time status. New recipients are chosen each year, and awards range from $1,000 to $2,000 per year. Non-Renewable Scholarships: Thea M. Anderson Scholarship For students majoring in economics, history, geography, political science, psychology or sociology with preference to incoming freshmen. Award is typically $1,400.

3 Ellen Clark History Scholarship For incoming freshmen students majoring in history. Award is typically $1,400. Norton E. Croft Scholarship For incoming freshmen students of academic merit. Award is typically $600. John O. Danielson Mathematics Scholarship For an incoming freshmen student in majoring in mathematics. Award is typically $1,400. Dimarco Scholarship For an incoming freshmen male student with financial need, majoring in health and human performance. Award is typically $2,500. Tommy Downs Scholarship For an incoming freshmen student who is a graduate of Spooner (Wisconsin) High School, with the UW-Superior Foundation matching the award. Award is typically $1,400 total. Caroline Erickson Scholarship For an incoming freshman student who is a graduate of a high school in Northwestern Wisconsin, who is in the upper 20 percent of their class, and who has the recommendation of their high school principal. Award is typically $3,000. Clough Gates Scholarship For incoming freshmen students of academic merit. Award is typically $1,200. Hermanson Scholarship For a freshmen female who is a resident of rural Douglas County and is ranked in the upper 25th percentile of her high school graduating class. Award is typically $2,000. Jim Dan Hill Scholarship For incoming freshmen students of academic merit. Award is typically $1,100. Paul and Lucile Holden Scholarship For students of academic merit majoring in various programs in the Communicating Arts, Music, Human Behavior, Justice, and Diversity, Social Inquiry, and Visual Arts departments (other than English and history) preferably incoming freshmen. Awards are typically $1,000 to $2,000. Dorcas McPhail Johnson Scholarship For incoming freshmen students majoring in teacher education and having a minimum GPA of 3.0. Award is typically $600. George Kelly Scholarship For incoming freshmen students. Awards are typically $1,000.

4 Diane and Jim Klungness Scholarship $2,500 scholarships for two incoming freshmen students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and financial need. Henry R. W. Knudsen Scholarship For incoming freshmen students of academic merit. Award is typically $1,200. William and Sylvia Lange Memorial Scholarship For incoming freshmen students of academic merit. Award is typically $1,800. Frances Lavine Scholarship For students based on need and ability, with preference given to female Native Americans. Award is typically $1,500. Flora Marie Loubert Scholarship For incoming freshmen students of academic merit. Award is typically $400. Clifford J. Lue Scholarship For students majoring in mass communication, preferably incoming freshmen. Award is typically $200. Nona MacQuilkin/Norman Christensen Scholarship For incoming freshmen students majoring in English. Award is typically $1,200. Marcovich Family Scholarship For incoming freshmen students majoring in legal studies. Award is typically $1,600. Emile Mathis Art Scholarship For three incoming freshmen students pursuing a degree in art who demonstrate some level of financial need. This scholarship may be renewable for one year, but only if there are no qualified incoming freshmen recipients. Awards are typically $2,500. Ronald J. Mathis Art Scholarship For an incoming freshmen pursuing a degree in art who demonstrates some level of financial need. This scholarship may be renewable for one year, but only if there is no qualified incoming freshmen recipient. Award is typically $1,500. William and Olga Munnings Scholarship For an incoming freshmen student from Superior High School. Award is typically $350. Morgan and Elizabeth Murphy Scholarship For students of academic merit, preferably incoming freshmen. Award is typically $1,300.

5 Northern State Bank Scholarship For an incoming freshmen student from one of the following high schools: Ashland, Bayfield, Washburn, Mellen, or Butternut. Award is typically $1,500. Emma Oexemann Scholarship For incoming freshmen students majoring in biology and in the top 15th percentile of their high school graduating class. Awards are typically $1,400. Lucia Spooner Scholarship For capable incoming freshmen students who may need assistance. Spooner scholarships are occasionally renewable, and awards are typically $1,000 to $2,000 per year. Frances Stevenson Scholarship For worthy incoming freshmen students. Award is typically $1,300. Superior Scholarship For incoming freshmen students. Awards are typically $1,000 to $2,500. Gail Erickson Thrasher Scholarship For a graduate of the Northwestern School District in Maple, WI. The student shall be enrolled full-time at UW-Superior. In the event the Northwestern School District is closed, the scholarship shall be awarded to a student from Maple, Poplar, Lake Nebagamon or Iron River, Wisconsin. Award is typically $500. UW-Superior Alumni Association Scholarship $1,000 scholarships for two incoming freshmen with strong high school curriculum, ACT/SAT scores and GPA. A. D. Whealdon Scholarship For incoming freshmen students of academic merit majoring in chemistry. Award is typically $500.
