1 CMU CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY Teacher Education & Professional Development TEPD Scholarships TEPD is pleased to announce the availability of the TEPD departmental scholarships for students admitted to CMU s teacher education program. These scholarships will be awarded in early May 2017 for the academic year. Recipients will receive a congratulatory letter. A listing of recipients will also be posted on the TEPD website. The application deadline is: Friday, March 17 at 5:00 pm in EHS 421. For application, instructions and forms please go to: The award amount of each scholarship is based on investment earnings. The value of each scholarship is subject to a lot of variability so TEPD is not able to post dollar values for the scholarships. Exact amounts awarded to recipients will appear on tuition bills. 2 Barbara Bissot Endowed Scholarship GPA minimum 3. Renewable Donald Oren Bush Scholarship (elementary only) GPA minimum 4. Two (2) letters of recommendation from any subject matter methods course faculty stressing teaching potential of applicant 5. One recipient Paul G. and Sophia H. Cartwright Memorial Scholarship 4. Two or three (2-3) letters of recommendation 5. Brief statement of educational philosophy (1 page maximum) 6. One recipient; past recipients are eligible 7. Renewable John and Mary Ann (Kaatz) Click Endowed Scholarship 1. Be enrolled in a Service-Oriented Studies Program within the College 2. Must work a minimum of 10 hours per week GPA minimum 4. Must submit the following: name, address, CMU Global ID and ID #, Major or planned major, place of employment with employer s name and contact information. 5. An essay detailing your choice of career, the reason(s) for choosing a career, and the contribution you hope to make through your service Cochran/Burke Scholarship for Excellence in Middle Level Education 4. Must be majoring in a STEM field and aiming to teach middle/high school 5. Must be an advocate for the advancement of women in STEM fields 6. One recipient 7. Renewable Susan Colby Maly Endowed Scholarship 2. Junior standing 4. Narrative on the financial impact cancer has had on you and your family s lives (1 page maximum) (check box on application form) 5. Preference for Perry High School graduates (if all above criteria is met)

Monetary amount will be split among three or more students Edmund and Marjorie Galant Endowed Award (secondary only) GPA minimum 4. Must be a Michigan resident 5. Preference given to residents of Kent or Washtenaw county 6. One or more recipients; past recipients are eligible 7. Renewable Edgar L. Grim Scholarship 3. One recipient Carl V. and Margaret Hahn Furney Scholarship 2. Single parent (must be a single parent with a dependent child) (check box on application form) GPA minimum 4. Must demonstrate financial need (Student: file FAFSA prior to March 1 st TEPD: will verify need 5. Part-time attendance or withdrawal from CMU will result in cancellation of scholarship. 6. Scholarship money to be used for tuition, books, or to assist with child-care while recipient (single parent) attends classes. 7. Renewable Hensley Family Endowed Scholarship (elementary only) GPA minimum 3. Demonstrated financial need (Student: file FAFSA prior to March 1 st TEPD: will verify need 4. Students graduated from secondary schools in Lapeer County given preference 7. Consideration given to students demonstrating service to TEPD and CMU 8. May be renewable for up to two years of full-time continuous enrollment providing the recipients maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Gail Sleeper Memorial Endowment GPA minimum 5. Preference given to a student who was previously a classroom student of Gail Sleeper and a Gladwin High School graduate.
