2 U Lamar Community College Foundation Community Scholarship Information The Lamar Community College Foundation is pleased to offer community-funded scholarships. These scholarships are made available by local residents, organizations, and Colorado Foundations who support higher education and are interested in making a difference in Southeast Colorado. Students may apply for as many Community Scholarships as apply to their backgrounds, interests, and majors. Selection of scholarship recipients will be based on application materials only; no interviews are required. A student s receipt of other Lamar Community College scholarships/financial aid will be taken into consideration when applications are evaluated. Please submit the completed Community Scholarship application packet by July 31, For additional information, contact Anne-Marie Crampton at or foundation@lamarcc.edu. Submit completed applications to LCC Student Services Center/Dorothy Choat. GENERAL APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: A Usigned, personal letter from applicant explaining your career goals and qualifications to receive the scholarship. Two letters of recommendation. Official high school or unofficial college transcripts OR copy of high school diploma or GED certificate (whichever is most applicable). Copy of Lamar Community College Notice of Admissions (if Fall 2014 will be your first semester at LCC). Copy of GED certificate (if applicable). Daniels Boundless Opportunity Scholarships Adult students (age 22 and older) who demonstrate financial need according to FAFSA for Fall 2014 semester. Priority will be given to those who have earned their GEDs rather than a high school diploma. Daniels Fund Full-time or part-time Up to $1,500 per semester (fall/ spring) depending on enrollment status and number of applicants. Scholarships prorated for less than full-time enrollment. # of Scholarships Variable

3 Daniels Boundless Opportunity EMT Scholarships Scholarships for up to full tuition, fees, and books for students completing Emergency Medical Technician-Basic coursework. Daniels Fund Up to $1,700, depending on number of applicants. # of Scholarships Variable Darrell Cook Memorial Scholarship Graduating senior from the LCC service area. Bill Carder Part-time or full-time $500 per semester (fall/spring) # of Scholarships One (1) Johnson Financial Aid Program Enrollment status: Certificate or degree-seeking students who are long-term Colorado residents and US citizens, demonstrate the ability to be academically successful, and have unmet financial need, as determined by FAFSA. Preference given to adult students (22 and older). Recipients must maintain GPA of 2.5 or better. Helen K. and Arthur E. Johnson Foundation Part-time or full-time Up to $500 per semester (fall/spring) depending on enrollment status # of Scholarships: Variable - awards dependent on continued funding. Lamar Rotary Club Scholarship Local full-time student with preference given to applicant who is an active volunteer in the community. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Lamar Rotary Club

4 Full-time $250 per semester (fall/spring) # of Scholarships: One (1) Lamar York Rite Bodies & Order of Eastern Star #112 Scholarship Student entering Level I of LCC s Nursing program. Must be admitted to LCC Nursing program and enrolled in Level I Nursing courses before scholarship is applied to student s account in fall of Lamar York Rite Bodies & Order of Eastern Star #112 Minimum GPA: 2.5 Full-time $250 for fall semester (book scholarship) # of Scholarships: 1 Prowers Medical Center Auxiliary Nursing Scholarships Students entering Level II of LCC Nursing Program. Must be admitted to LCC Nursing program and enrolled in Level II Nursing courses before scholarship is applied to student s account in fall of Prowers Medical Center Auxiliary Full-time each semester $500 per semester (fall/spring). # Available: Four (4) Rich Lovell Nursing Scholarship Scholarship was established to recognize and remember Rich Lovell, an outstanding and compassionate LCC instructor who had a love for healthcare. Scholarship is available to students entering Level II of the LCC Nursing Program with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Must be admitted to LCC Nursing program and enrolled in Level II Nursing courses before scholarship is applied to student s account in fall of Friends & Family of Rich Lovell Minimum GPA: 3.0

5 Full-time each semester $ per semester (fall/spring) # of Scholarships: One (1) Robert Hoag Rawlings Scholarships Students intending to complete their associate degrees and continue toward Bachelor s degree in Journalism (preferred) or business. Residents of Southern Colorado preferred. Robert Hoag Rawlings Foundation Minimum GPA: 2.5 Full-time $1,000 per semester (fall/spring) # of Scholarships: Two (2) Ron Gomez Memorial Scholarship Designed for individuals who plan to pursue a career as a probation officer or as a second chance to those individuals who may have gone through the Colorado juvenile justice system. Applicants should address why they qualify for the Ron Gomez Memorial Scholarship in the required cover letter. May be renewable for a second semester, dependent on student s GPA. Friends and family of Ron Gomez Full-time or half-time $200 Fall Scholarship, renewable for spring semester. # of Scholarships: One (1)
