Undergraduate Scholarships {SPRING 2016} Orlando Health Nursing Honors in the Major Scholarship Student must be enrolled in the Nursing Honors in the Major course. Applicant must be enrolled as a full time undergraduate student in the UCF College Must hold minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicant must submit a short essay explaining his or her research or thesis topic. ReAnna Greene Memorial Endowed Nursing Scholarship Applicant must be currently enrolled as a full or part time undergraduate in the College Must have a 3.5 GPA or above. Applicant must be a current member of the UCF Student Nurses Association (SNA). The remaining scholarships are generally awarded during the fall application cycle. Undergraduate Scholarships Bert Fish Chair in Nursing Education Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a third semester junior or senior in the BSN program at the UCF Daytona campus. Applicant must be a resident of Volusia County Must hold a minimum 3.7 GPA Preference will be given to students with financial need as determined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Bert Fish Memorial Endowed Scholarship Applicant must have attended Daytona Beach Community College. Applicant must be enrolled as a full or part time undergraduate student in the nursing program at the UCF Daytona campus or be enrolled in UCF s web-based nursing program. 1

2 Blackwell Family Foundation HIM Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full time undergraduate nursing student in the UCF College Applicant must be enrolled in the Nursing Honors in the Major course. Central Florida Kidney Centers, Inc. Endowed Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time junior or senior undergraduate student in the UCF College of Applicant must be involved in leadership and community service. Compassion for Nursing Endowed Scholarship Applicant must be a full or part time undergraduate student in the UCF College Applicant must submit an essay describing your compassion for the nursing profession and your opportunity to make a difference. Laura Flannery Endowed Memorial Nursing Scholarship Applicant must be a full time undergraduate student in the UCF College Must hold a minimum 3.5 GPA Applicant must be a United States citizen Preference will be given to applicants showing financial need as determined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Applicant must submit a one page essay on how this scholarship may positively impact your endeavors. Florida Navy Nurse Corps Association Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester in the RN to BSN or RN to MSN program in the UCF College Preference will be given to a current Active Duty Military member, veteran of military service, family member of current or former member of the military service or member of the Civil Service. Applicant must submit two letters of recommendation from individuals other than relatives. 2

Helene Fuld Health Trust Scholarship Fund for Baccalaureate Students Applicant must be enrolled full or part time as an undergraduate student in the BSN Program in the UCF College Barbara Fowler Hoff Endowed Nursing Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full or part time undergraduate nursing student in the UCF College of Elizabeth Marie Howe Memorial Endowed Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full time undergraduate student in the UCF College Must hold a 3.0 GPA or higher. Preference will be given to applicants who are interested in working in the neonatal intensive care unit and are active members of the Student Nurses Association (SNA). Nirvana Health Services Endowed Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as full or part time undergraduate student in the Accelerated BSN program in the UCF College Applicant must demonstrate volunteer activities in the community. Applicant must submit a one-page essay sharing their feelings about community health care and what their career path will be after graduation. Sarah Marie Phillips Endowed Nursing Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full time undergraduate student in the UCF College Preference will be given to eligible first-time candidates. 3

4 Heather Scaglione Endowed Memorial Scholarship Applicant must be a Florida Student Nursing Association member and enrolled as a full-time senior undergraduate student in the UCF College Must hold a minimum 2.5 GPA Applicant must submit an essay that addresses work in the community, leadership qualities and your passion for life and the nursing profession. Preference may be given to applicants showing financial need as determined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Carson Alan Swingle Helping Heart Endowed Scholarship Preference will be given to students considering a professional nursing career in pediatrics or pediatric critical care. Applicant must be enrolled as a full or part time as a senior nursing student in the BSN program in the UCF College of Nursing Applicant must submit an essay addressing your career goals in pediatrics or pediatrics critical care nursing, including any personal experience with congenital heart disease. Dorothy Anne Perkins Tomlinson Endowed Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time junior or senior undergraduate student in the UCF College of Applicant must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as an undergraduate student in the UCF Brevard nursing program on the UCF Cocoa campus. Must reside in Brevard County Applicant must demonstrate involvement in leadership and/or community service. Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation Scholarship The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation Scholarship exists to aid Christian women in financial need who are pursuing a degree in nursing. Applicant must be enrolled as a full time or part time undergraduate student in the BSN program in the UCF College Must reside in one of the following states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and/or Virginia. Must have minimum 3.0 GPA. 4

5 Diane and Lawrence Wink Endowed Nursing Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student in the basic BSN program in the UCF College First semester students are not eligible to apply. Applicant must be working toward their first bachelor s degree. Must hold a minimum 3.5 GPA. In the four years prior to applying, the applicant must document 250 hours of employment or volunteer activities in a health care setting where direct patient contact was an integral part of the role. Applicant must submit a letter of recommendation from a clinical instructor. Undergraduate or Graduate Scholarships Bender Family Endowed Scholarship Preference may be given to students interested in the fields of mental health, psychiatric nursing and/or public health. 6 Odessa Chambliss Quality of Life Fund Endowed Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full or part time undergraduate or graduate student in the UCF College Preference will be given to students who are single mothers. Femmes de Coeur Endowed Nursing Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full or part-time undergraduate or graduate nursing student in the UCF College Must hold a minimum 2.75 GPA Applicant must be a resident of Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole or Volusia counties. Heart of Volusia Nursing Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled full or part time as a senior BSN student or a graduate student in the UCF College Preference will be given to students interested in the fields of cardiac or critical care nursing. Preference may be given to residents of Volusia or Flagler counties. In Memory of Marlie Kai Dodson, Endowed UCF Oncology Nursing Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full time undergraduate or graduate student in the UCF College of Must hold a minimum 3.5 GPA. Applicant must include an essay answering: How will the nursing care you provide make an impact on a patient battling pediatric/childhood cancer? Renee M. Keller Endowed Nursing Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full or part-time undergraduate or graduate student in the UCF College Preference will be given to students who are residents of Daytona Beach or who have graduated from high school in Volusia County. 6

Jeanne Lowke Endowed Scholarship for Oncology Nursing Students Student should be interested in the field of oncology. Applicant must be enrolled as a full or part time undergraduate or graduate student in the UCF College Applicant must submit an essay outlining the reasons you are interested in a career in oncology nursing. Debra and Gerard Michaud Nursing Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in the UCF College of Must hold a minimum 3.3 GPA Preference will be given to non-traditional students who work at least 25 hours/week and are at least 30 years old. JKLM Moore Endowed Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full time undergraduate or graduate student in the UCF College of Nursing Must hold a minimum 3.5 GPA Preference will be given to students who did their clinical rotation at Florida Hospital for Children. Sam Realista Nursing Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full or part-time undergraduate or graduate student in the UCF College Two scholarships to be awarded annually - one to an undergraduate student and one to a graduate student. Must hold a minimum 3.5 GPA. Preference will be given to students demonstrating financial need as determined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Applicant must submit an essay addressing your career goals following graduation. 7

8 VITAS Innovative Hospice Care Endowed Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full or part time undergraduate or graduate student in the UCF College Applicant must submit an essay addressing your interest or experience in compassionate caregiving and end of life care. Recipients must equally represent the Daytona, Cocoa and Main Campus College of Nursing programs with preference given to students who reside in Volusia, Brevard, Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties. Winter Park Memorial Hospital and Auxiliary Nursing Endowed Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full or part time undergraduate or graduate student in the UCF College Must hold a minimum 2.75 GPA. Preference will be given to applicants residing in Orange and Seminole counties. Graduate Scholarships Martin Andersen-Gracia Andersen Scholarship for Graduate Students Applicant must be enrolled as a full or part time graduate student in the UCF College Applicant must submit resume detailing involvement in clubs, organizations and volunteer leadership positions in community and extracurricular activities. Blackwell Family Foundation Nurse Practitioner Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a graduate student in the Nurse Practitioner program in the UCF College Applicant must be in the final semester of study and enrolled in the Practicum course. Applicant must be performing clinical work in a clinical setting that serves financially-distressed individuals. 8

9 Dr. Jacqueline Byers Memorial Nursing Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full or part time graduate student in either the MSN Nursing Leadership and Management track or the DNP track. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA Applicant must submit a 500 word essay on the nurse s role in quality and safety in the healthcare setting and how it affects the patient and the organization. CFP Physicians Group Advanced Practice Nursing Residency Applicant must be enrolled as a full or part time graduate student in either the Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner program in the UCF College of Nursing Applicant must submit 2 letters of reference. Applicant must submit an essay describing your interests and experience in long-term care or gerontology. Preference will be given to applicants who plan to perform a funded nursing residency in the practice of gerontology or long-term care. Scholarship may be awarded to the same student in successive semesters provided that funds are available and student maintains the award criteria. Dr. Mark Dogoli Endowed Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a graduate student in Nurse Practitioner program in the UCF College of Applicant must submit an essay describing your leadership record, your reasons why you intend to dedicate your career to patient care and why you are deserving of this scholarship. Preference will be given to residents of Sarasota County, FL. Gould Family Graduate Nursing Endowed Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full or part time graduate student in the Nurse Educator program in the UCF College Must hold a minimum 3.5 GPA Drs. Linda M. and E. Glenn Hennig, Jr. Endowed Scholarship Applicant must aspire to become a nurse educator. Applicant must be enrolled as a full or part time graduate student in the MSN, PhD or DNP program in the UCF College Applicant must be currently taking a minimum of two courses. Must submit a one-page (maximum) essay that illustrates your goals and aspirations for your future as a nurse educator. 9

Kijek Doctoral Student Endowed Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full or part time graduate student in the PhD program in the UCF College Applicant must hold a minimum 3.5 GPA. Knightingale Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a graduate student in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD programs in the UCF College DNP students must be in the post-masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) phase of DNP curriculum. Must hold a minimum 3.5 GPA. Applicant must submit an essay on your career goals and plans upon implementation of doctoral education and implications for the discipline of nursing. Hugh F. and Jeannette G. McKean Endowed Scholarship Applicant must be enrolled as a full or part time graduate student in the UCF College Applicant must be enrolled in the Nurse Educator (Master s degree track), DNP or PhD program and planning to teach future nurse leaders. Applicant must submit an essay addressing your motivation for becoming a nurse educator and provide innovative approaches to teaching and learning. This scholarship may be awarded to the same student in successive semesters until graduation provided that funds are available and the recipient maintains scholarship criteria. 10
