When you enter our doors at The Adult Day Care Center of Las Vegas (ADCCLV), you will be greeted with open arms, and huge smiles from our hearts. Our Las Vegas Center responds to the important mission of supporting our participants in their effort to remain independent, with dignity in the community. The atmosphere at our Center is joyful and loving as we continue to offer an array of contemporary fun activities, for our participants to enjoy, including: A daily exercise program, Rock-N-My Workout, Laugh Yoga, Tai Chi, Music Appreciation, Creative Dance, Organic-Gardening, Bingo competitions, Arts & Crafts, Sign Language and live entertainment every afternoon. 2 Highlights from April Our Touro OT student,carly Blondin initiated a new custom exercise program, Rock N My Workout for the participants at the Adult Day Care Center of Las Vegas. The popular program promotes balance, strength and mobility and is available to day care participants on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:00 am and 12:30 pm. The wonderful custom logo was created by Nevada Senior Services talented program aide, Chris Ortega. April began with a spring in our steps. Creative Dance instructor, Margaret Rampey had our participants brain dancing, waltzing, folk dancing and moving their bodies to music themed from Cinco de Mayo and Earth day. Our Arts & Crafts Classes were busy creating Earth Day abstract pastel flowers suitable to hang in any art gallery. Celebrating the season, our connections group stenciled designs with spring celery stems. We would like to thank our New Chef John Turner and our sous chef Cynthia for a simply delightful Spring Bar-B-Que Lunch. Also, we would like to give a big Thank you to Bob Katz and Dennis Caleche for rockin the house on Friday, April 27th. Everyone sang in unison to the song I Feel Good from the James Brown 60 s classic. Our staff led a Day of Laughter and Cool Brain walking in the sunshine. Cool Brain walking energizes the brain and body and elevates mood. 2

4 Flowers created by participants in the Adult Day Care Centers of Las Vegas & Henderson GETTING SCENT-IMENTAL Our aromatherapy scent for May is sandalwood. A cleansing and protective scent that pairs with the purity of spring. Western Australian sandalwood is grown in plantations in its traditional growing area in the wheat belt east of Perth, where more than 37,000 acres are in plantations. Sandalwood is the second most valuable wood in the world. The unique scent is extracted from the oil. See What s in Bloom! Recipe of the Month Submitted by: Larconyia H. (Age: 59) Ingredients: 1 small head of cauliflower, outer leaves removed 1 egg, whisked lightly with fork ½ tsp. dried oregano 14 oz.

(Age: 59) Ingredients: 1 small head of cauliflower, outer leaves removed 1 egg, whisked lightly with fork ½ tsp. dried oregano 14 oz. can crushed, unsalted tomatoes 1 tbsp. olive oil, divided 4 oz. shredded part-skim mozzarella 3 cups arugula Directions Preheat oven to 425 F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Break cauliflower into pieces and chop in a large food processor until finely ground. Transfer to a microwave safe bowl and heat for 4 minutes. Pour onto a clean kitchen towel and let cool for several minutes. When cool enough to handle, take up the edges of the kitchen towel and squeeze the liquid out of the cauliflower. Scrape cauliflower into a clean bowl, add egg and oregano, and stir to combine. Spread cauliflower mixture into a rectangle shape on the prepared cookie sheet. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until cauliflower begins to brown. Meanwhile, add tomatoes, basil, oregano, and ½ tbsp. olive oil to the food processor and puree into a sauce. Remove cauliflower crust from oven. Spread tomato sauce over the crust, then cover with mozzarella and arugula. Return to the oven for another 2 minutes, or until cheese is melted. Remove from the oven, drizzle with remaining olive oil, and serve. 8

The 2 hour assessment includes memory screening and mood scale, medication review, nutrition review, eye sight screening, function/fall risk assessment and medical assessment. GAP clinic includes a Geriatric Physician, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker and Nurse. GAP addresses Caregiver concerns and can also provide/renew adult day care annual physicals. To schedule, Call or for detailed information Be Well Series are free lunch and learn programs for senior adults 60+ presented throughout the Las Vegas Valley. There are 3 modules of the Be Well Series covering information on Nutrition, Chasing the Blues Away and Sleep. Each program has a seated activity including yoga, chi kung, laughing yoga, dance, mindfulness and relaxation techniques Aging Mastery Program This NCOA program is designed to empower older adults to make and maintain small but impactful changes in their lives. The ten classes, facilitated by experts in their field, explore navigating longer lives, physical activity, sleep, healthy eating and hydration, financial fitness, medication management, advanced planning, healthy relationships, falls prevention, and community engagement
