2 Medication Disposal Program at TCRHCC A safe place for our patients to dispose of unused, unwanted or expired medication. Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation (TCRHCC) new Medication Disposal Container is now setup at the Outpatient Primary Care Center 1st floor. Your medicine cabinet may contain unused or expired medications that can harm your family and the environment if not disposed of properly. The Medication Disposal container is for patients to dispose of unwanted or unused medications, said CDR Mary Byrne, TCRHCC Quality Assurance Pharmacist. The TCRHCC Medications Disposal Program is setup to help patients dispose of their medications correctly and to prevent throwing their medications in the trash or flushed down the toilet, where they have the potential to harm the environment, children and pets. The Medication Disposal drop off container accepts all prescription drugs; overthe-counter medications, narcotics, vitamins, inhalers, liquid medication (in container or bag), and medication samples. TCRHCC Medication Disposal Program is accessible to everyone in the community and accepts medication returns 7-days a week from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM in the Outpatient Primary Care Center s 1st Floor, said Byrne. We are helping to protect our patients, their children, and the environment with this new program. The Medication Disposal containers are not allowed to accept the following: needles, thermometers, IV bags, bloody or infectious waste, trash or mail. Byrne emphasized that only patients can put their medications in this bin. TCRHCC Staff is NOT allowed to do this for them per Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations. A Heartfelt Thanks to Marie Nez Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation (TCRHCC) Purchasing Department would like to express their appreciation to Ms. Marie Nez for 10 years of service as direct hire, and 40 years of service with the Indian Health Services. Thank for your commitment and dedication, Marie.
