Huge thanks to Dr. Marie Bashaw - she linked us to details of above so we continued to progress. I've recommend the program to three colleagues. It was a great experience- hard to believe 3 years has passed. Better and timelier communication. Dr. Scordo was wonderful but others were not. I would recommend early identification of specific project. It was suggested, however order of classes were not designed to meet this goal (I know the order of classes has been modified since my cohort). Specific classes on health policy and clinical hours specific to health policy. Market analysis as to what other learning institutions are requiring for "clinical." Some places are accepting work hours as clinical hours. Thank you! It would be nice to be a stand-alone -not collaborative with UT. I preferred the professors at WSU. Separate the programs Orientation to the program includes information on beginning submission to the locker with each class. Assist students in knowing which classes are taught by which college (WSU vs. UT) so you know where to look for course content. 2. Statistics--improve course, very much feels like you teach yourself and then difficult to apply knowledge. Statistics assistance with data analysis for dissertation needs improved. This was a major problem causing wasted time and energy. This is a major weakness. Overall I enjoyed DNP program and felt that it provided me the latitude to develop my own learning objectives and opportunities. What I have learned is invaluable. Thanks so much to Dr.'s Russell and Brewer! I also really enjoyed Dr. Scordo's class The program has an excellent foundation for both direct and indirect students. If there is a desire to increase the volume of indirect students it is imperative to recruit faculty with demonstrated administrative expertise and experience (current). The healthcare environment is beyond any recognizable circumstance previously experienced. If we are to have nurse leaders prepared to lead in it at the clinical practice doctorally prepared level, they must have access to individuals who also have experience with it. And with only one exception now, I don't see sufficient resources applied to this need for this program. Streamline the project process with defined deadlines within the program. Will keep us on track for graduation I felt the DNP program met my needs. I would suggest updating the IT course to more application assignments. Discussion board assignments were limiting. DNP Student Monitors As a student and now graduate of the DNP program with the University of Toledo, I am highly honored to be part of this prestigious and rigorous program. While this is a consortium program that affords the benefits of experiencing new relations with other DNP students and other professors from another institution, I cannot say that the advantages entirely outweigh the disadvantages of having this as a consortium program. While I have many positive comments to share later about the program, I think if the consortium concept is to continue, that things need to be adjusted or amended in such a way that the two programs are more aligned/unified. I am not necessarily saying that it shouldn t exist, but I did not find that the two universities collaborated well enough to have consistency throughout the program. An example: It was often confusing being between the two universities because what
6 one university does in their DNP program might be different than what the other university does in the program. A course that had a clinical practicum involved 40 clock hours that was counted or accepted for the students in the WSU program, but not for students at UT. Or during my experience with classes at WSU, it seemed like the paperwork regarding my coursework (such as meeting required clock/class time hours) would get lost in translation and not end up in my file at UT, even though proper documents were submitted to my WSU professors. Between members of my cohort, we learned of these discrepancies between what was accepted or not accepted, depending on what our home university was, remained consistently confusing among us as a whole cohort. It also seemed that there was a feel in the culture between the two universities that it was more difficult to build relationships with the respective university because we weren t formal students of that particular program. This truly is not intended to sound negative, but I do feel that there could be significant strides made to improve the overall cohesiveness and collaborative relationship between the two universities. To share the positive aspects, the professors at both WSU and UT were very talented and set high expectations and were very supportive. It was an honor to grow with a cohort that was a mix of students and professors between two universities.-a unique and special component that should be applauded. And as a commitment on behalf of the professors, program director and Dean of the program- this is the greatest strength of the program, which bolsters such a demanding and rigorous, reputable program. What are the name, address, city, and state of the agency that you are employed? a. See filed data*****
