Educational Innovation Augusta University College of Education My doctoral experience at Augusta University was truly a personal quest to explore my own thoughts, collaborate with others, learn from scholars, and investigate educational situations and how they are impacted by our world. I was taught how to use tools that would allow me to access potential answers for questions like why, how, what, who, where, and when. Most importantly, I discovered along the way that being intelligent was not nearly as important as having perseverance and grit. Karen Warren, Ed.D.

Educational Innovation Professional degree designed for practitioners who work in varied educational settings Prepares educators to lead effectively the teaching and learning environment, to advocate for innovation efforts in education, and to be responsive to the evolving expectations placed upon educational systems

3 Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate Principles Is framed around questions of equity, ethics, and social justice to bring about solutions to complex problems of practice. Prepares leaders who can construct and apply knowledge to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals, families, organizations, and communities. Provides opportunities for candidates to develop and demonstrate collaboration and communication skills to work with diverse communities and to build partnerships. Provides field-based opportunities to analyze problems of practice and use multiple frames to develop meaningful solutions. Is grounded in and develops a professional knowledge base that integrates both practical and research knowledge, that links theory with systemic and systematic inquiry. Emphasizes the generation, transformation, and use of professional knowledge and practice

Courses Cohorts of 15 Program designed 3 years to complete Lockstep curriculum Begins with summer term (May) Requires attendance at weekend orientation prior to beginning classes Face to face with some online content delivery Six Friday/Saturdays each semester Calendar with proposed weekends is provided

5 Admissions Master s degree or higher Competitive applicant GPA 3.5 at graduate level GRE competitive writing score of 4.0 and 300 (total quantitative and verbal) Purpose statement how degree aligns with applicant s career goals 3 letters of reference Successful oral interview Successful completion of proctored writing sample Applications due November 2 each year
