1 Educational Program Student Learning Outcomes Air Conditioning Technology Upon completion of this program, the graduate can: 1. Perform basic automotive maintenance, such as lubrication, battery, cooling system, wheels and tires, spark plugs, wipers, lamps and bulbs, fuses, and other quick service items, including vehicle pre-delivery service. 2. Diagnose and repair problems such as unusual tire wear, noise, and vibration related to the suspension and steering systems. 3. Demonstrate basic hydraulic principles and design. 4. Demonstrate the construction and operation of various brake systems. 5. Diagnose and repair both drum and disk brakes, master cylinder, wheel cylinder, vacuum power booster, antilock brakes, and related component parts. 6. Demonstrate the electronic components of the automobile, including semiconductors, diodes, transistors, and other components. 7. Demonstrate how each component of the automobile interacts with the electronic circuit. 8. Demonstrate computer basics, actuators, and speed control devices in the automobile. 9. Assemble, upgrade, troubleshoot, and maintain the personal computer Demonstrate proficiency using fundamental software such as word-processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation packages Develop a program from a set of specifications, using modern programming logic techniques such as structured, modular and object-oriented programming. 5. Practice safe working conditions of personal dress, proper use of hand tools, metrology equipment, conventional power equipment, CNC equipment, and hazardous materials and storage techniques. 2. Setup and operate conventional lathes and mills performing machining operations and holding tolerances that are required by curriculum task lists in alignment with national standards set by NIMS (National Institute of Metalworking Skills). 3. Setup and operate drill press and sawing machines to perform operations and hold tolerances that are required by the curriculum and national standards set by NIMS. 4. Read and interpret prints to the satisfaction of part production and satisfaction of national standards set by NIMS. 5. Schedule job operations in chronological sequence in which parts would be produced in an industrial setting. 6. Medical Assisting Upon completion of an associate degree program, the graduate can: 1. Communicate effectively using standard written English. 2. Process insurance forms and code for the medical office using ICD and CPT coding, and HCPCS systems. 6. Communicate effectively with patients and co-workers, process mail and office correspondence, file, schedule patient appointments, process medical records and perform proper telephone technique. 7. Demonstrate the necessary manipulative skills needed to apply the Gas Tungsten Arc on various joint designs, on plate with both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. 8. Identify, inspect, and maintain Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) machines; identify, select, and store GMAW electrodes. 9. Explain principles of GMAW and the effects of variables on the GMAW process. 10. Explain the theory and applications of GMAW and related processes such as Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) and Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) and metallurgy. 11.
