What is the Charity Challenge? The Charity Challenge is an annual fundraising event in which employees and alumni of NMG participate. For three months employees across all the businesses run, walk, swim and cycle in the name of raising money for local South African charities. For each mile completed, NMG will donate 5 ZAR towards our nominated charities. Charity Challenge, 2017 dates: 1 June 31 August 3
What have we raised in the past? Here s a look at the success of the Charity Challenge in years gone by, all thanks to the hard work and support of our employees! 2014: ZAR 928, : ZAR 1,764, : ZAR 1,190, : It s up to you! Our goal in 2017 is to reach at least ZAR 2,000,000!!! 4
A Focus on Fitness and Wellness Fitness and wellness continues to be the primary focus of the Charity Challenge, however there are other ways you can raise money to support our nominated charities. You can raise money through other activities (see slides 12). And from your fundraising efforts, NMG will match every dollar, Rand, Ringgit and Pound raised. 5
Who does the Charity Challenge support? In 2017, the funds raised through the Charity Challenge will go to four deserving charities: - Elundini (Cape Town) - Tembisa Child Welfare (Johannesburg) - Uviwe (Port Elizabeth) - Thanda (Durban) Go to the charities page on our website for more information about each worthy charity. If you know of a charity that needs our support, send your proposal to charitychallenge@nmg-group.com for our 2017 charity review. 6
! Who are your local Charity Challenge Champions? Our Champions walk and breathe the NMG core values. They re passionate about the cause and will be your key contact for any Charity Challenge questions you have. Meet your 2017 Charity Challenge Champions! We will be using SparkPeople again this year with a refreshed and improved interface. Using this webpage, you can: 1. Track your miles and fund raising efforts. 2. Send/view team photos. 3. Stay up-to-date with most miles logged with a NMG Group wide Team Leaderboard. NOTES: Syncing your devices: Connecting your devices such as FitBit Tracker, Google Fit, Garmin WILL NOT register activity towards Charity Challenge miles. You must input all your data by logging into the webpage. 9 SparkPeople phone application: The is a SparkPeople mobile application is available for download; however, it doesn t have a distance tracker in it. Therefore, you won t be able to manually track things like cycling, running, etc. Only the favorites/minute based activities will show up.
