1 Anna May Daulton Elementary School receives $ grant for STEM Extension Fun Teacher Angela Blanton receives a grant for $ from the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation. Grant funds will be used to purchase items for a STEM learning lab. Students will explore, flight, friction, airflow and more as the design & build rubber band roadsters, create custom fliers and construct a realworking windmill. Each of the project based labs include 4 step by step activities that students will complete in order building on the skills they learned in the previous activity. As students work, they get hands-on experience with the design process.
2 Asa Low Intermediate School receives $3,460 grant for Ramtech Building Systems Grant Light Up Their Life With Multi-Media Science Books Teachers Kim Simmons, Patricia Londono & Caitlin Miller receive a grant for $3,460 from the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation. Grant funds will be used to purchase multimedia Lightbox interactive books on a variety of science content topics that support science curriculum and the interests of our students. These e books incorporate audio, video, and a variety of interactive activities which will engage students with the text and bring science-related topics to life.
3 Tarver Rendon Elementary School receives $4,982 grant for S.T.E.A.M. up a Good Book Teachers Daniel Beauford, Jasmina Bhatka, Hanna Castillo, Kassi Mehler, Rachel Osburn, Julie Stephens & Amber Turner receive a grant for $4,982 from the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation. Grant funds will be used to purchase Charlotte s Web Paperback novels, as well as other items to help present a unique learning experience. Students will read the book and at the end of each week will participate in a STEAM event associated with the book. This will help them visualize the aspects of STEAM through the classic novel, Charlotte s Web.
4 All Middle Schools receive $5,000 for Huckabee Grant Middle School Breakouts Cooler Than You Think Librarians Karen Crawford, Kelle Gressett, Amy Herford, Alicia Rosales, Blanca Smith & Amy Toombs receive a grant for $5,000 from the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation. Grant funds will be used to purchase Breakout EDU boxes for each MISD Middle School campus. Breakout EDU kits are complex puzzle boxes that students solve as a team. Each challenge requires analyzing information, allowing participants to literally unlock the next clue until all are correctly solved. Breakout EDU games utilize critical thinking, teamwork and complex problem solving.
5 All MISD Campuses receive $9, for Think Big Grant STEAMing Right Along Librarian Emilie Buske-Ferman receives a grant for $9, from the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation. Grant funds will be used to purchase ipad minis that will help bring the Mobile STEAM Lab grant to all campuses. Many of the campuses didn t have ipads and were unable to use the Mobile STEA lab. This will allow all campuses in the district to use the STEAM Lab and all its accessories to the fullest. This includes Robotics, Math, Science, Engineering and Arts.
6 Elizabeth Smith Elementary receives $744 for Vernon Newsom Memorial Grant The Wonderful World of Osmo Librarian Emilie Buske-Ferman receives a grant for $744 from the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation. Grant funds will be used to purchase 1 ipad mini and 1 Osmo Genius Kit Game System for ipad. The Osmo system is one of the best toys that also spans the curriculum with Math, Science, Art and more. It engages students of all ages to learn through play, as well as collaborative learning. Osmo s system fosters social intelligence and creative thinking by opening up the ipad to the endless possibilities of physical play.
7 Ben Barber Innovation Academy receives $ for Instructions? What Instructions? Teacher Debbie Andrews receives a grant for $ from the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation. Grant funds will be used to purchase 20 individual LEGO kits. Each kit will be placed in a shoebox with no instructions or images. Students will be asked to assemble the kits. By using these kits as an introductory activity, teachers would be able to demonstrate the need for reading instructions, listening to instructions or watching instructional videos prior to the student engaging with heavy machinery and or equipment.
8 Janet Brockett Elementary receives $ for New Kids on the Block Centers Librarian Molly Sparkman receives a grant for $ from the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation. Grant funds will be used to purchase block centers for students to check out during library time. Building toys have significant cognitive and academic benefits for children of all ages. They help prepare kids for school, sports and life! Not only are they fun and exciting, but the help develop a wide variety of skills and abilities.
9 Martha Reid Elementary receives $4, for Becky Carrol Memorial Grant STEAM Innovation Stations Teachers Leslie Drake, Lisa Watson, Lacy Underwood, Amie Alsup, Shannon Wright & Jennifer Abbott receive a grant for $4, from the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation. Grant funds will be used to purchase Spheros, Cubelets, Dash and Dot, Little Bits, and ipads. These diverse technological tools will give students the opportunity to code, read, build games, apply math and science principals to real time activities, and give the teachers another option besides a book and worksheet to teach.
10 Mary Jo Sheppard Elementary School receives $ grant for Vernon Newsom Memorial Grant Osmo-sis Diffused Teachers Sabra Hawkings, Carmen Proctor-Pace, Sharon Prince & Tiffany Smith receive a grant for $ from the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation. Grant funds will be used to purchase the Osmosis Genius kit. This will allow the students to work in center format to communicate and practice hand eye-coordination in various subject areas available Math, Language Arts, Science, and Art.
11 Mary Orr Intermediate receives $4, for Carol & Ed Esstman Grant Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.with STEM Teachers Sharon Swartz, Ashley Coffman & Monica Abrams receive a grant for $4, from the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation. Grant funds will be used to purchase 20 mbot Ranger, transformable robot kits and accessories. With these we will start an extracurricular Mom and Daughter robotics program to get girls excited about STEM. Each session will consist of at least four hours of hands-on, engaging activities. They will collaborate together to build a robot and then program their robot with coding software.
12 Tarver Rendon Elementary receives $ for Bee-Botting to Learning Teachers Laurie Edgar, April Martin & Jaime Canright receive a grant for $ from the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation. Grant funds will be used to purchase six Bee-Bots, docking station, storage system and curriculum skill mats to use in classrooms to reinforce grade level TEKS & Objectives. These Bee- Bots also introduce the concept of coding with students, help students with computing by understanding what algorithms are and how they are implemented as programs on digital devices.
13 Tarver Rendon Elementary receives $900 for Little Engineers with Great Magnetism Teachers Kim White, Allison Adkison & Sarah Wimberley receive a grant for $900 from the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation. Grant funds will be used to purchase TEGU Magnetic Wooden Blocks. These blocks will support the development of children by enhancing their fine motor skills, help them recognize patterns in the real world, and understand the sense of balance and scale of structures. It will also support imaginative play, problem solving and storytelling.
