5 SCHEDULE OF WORKSHOPS Session 1 8:40a - 9:40a Effective Evaluation Strategies for Successful Employees Rita Buyers, Coronado Unified School District In this workshop we will discuss the purpose and processes or employee evaluations. We will focus on using evaluation strategies to help employees be successful. The strategies we will discuss include: setting expectations, conferencing and documenting. Surf Your Way Through Time Accounting Andi Loree, SDCOE * Heather Rubio, Christy White & Assoc We ll explain the changes in the new Federal Uniform Guidance as it pertains to Time Accounting. We ll also explain what a Single Cost Objective is and walk you through various processes and examples to determine when a Personnel Activity Report (PAR) is needed and when you can use a Semi-Annual Certification. D, San Marcos Unified School District * Ernesto Bell, AALRR School districts are increasingly using surveillance video technology on school campuses and buses. Video is a valuable tool for monitoring safety, and reviewing work performance. But is video, once created, an unexpected source of manifold headaches? Specifically, are surveillance videos considered pupil records or public records, subject to disclosure requirements? Are there retention requirements for surveillance videos? Participants will learn about statutory schemes that govern disclosure and retention of video, and how they apply in practice. The presentation will also include "things to consider" in developing district procedures for video surveillance.

Developed by two new buyers, this is a what I wished I knew when I started workshop. Site Based Budgeting Keith Butler, Coronado USD * William Pickering, Bonsall USD Please join William Pickering, CBO of Bonsall Unified, and Keith Butler, CBO of Coronado Unified, as they illustrate several varieties of Site-Based Budgeting (SBB). The main idea behind SBB is to move decisionmaking about the use of resources to the site level close to the action. Topics covered in this presentation include needs assessment, master planning, assembling the team, planning the bond campaign and communicating your plans with the public. We will also discuss the impacts of new legislation has on your workload for example the DIR registration requirements and increased contractor pre-qualification requirements.
