2 Reauthorization of the Federal Transportation Bill AASHTO Board of Directors developed recommendations to Congress in 2013 MAP-21 expired September 30, month extension runs through Halloween (Oct 31, 2015) Senate passed a 6-year bill at the end of July Slight increase in funding provided Only 3 years of full funding available from the Highway Trust Fund and offsets/pay-fors
3 New AASHTO Strategic Plan Adopted by Board of Directors in November 2014 Covers Development guided by a committee of 17 State DOT Executives Provides direction to AASHTO, not to the State DOTs
4 Vision Assist states in developing transportation solutions that: create economic prosperity enhance quality of life improve safety Mission through: policy development advocacy technical services leadership development advancing partnerships promoting innovation
5 Goals Four Goals in the AASHTO Strategic Plan: 1. Provide Value to Members 2. Provide Innovative Technical and Professional Services and Products 3. Be a Leader in National Transportation Policy Development 4. Communicate the Value of Transportation
