3 MINING CHARTER Pillar 5: Communities and Infrastructure The objective of this pillar is to ensure that mining companies contribute towards the transformation and upliftment of the communities in which they operate as well as the country as a whole. Strategic Plan: (Item 4.4) Roll out Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs to collectively cover all Regions of Namibia 3

5 Real & perceived challenges to expand into other regions Investor money not so easy to convince investors that one should invest in areas far away from operations; Possible lack of control can t interact with the people that regularly; Don t know where to start not familiar with the community; Harder to involve employees in the CSR activities; It is hard to justify CSR activities let alone those in other regions; 5

6 Partnership in Education and Development All support from The Rössing Foundation has been strategically planned and agreed upon in consultation with Government partners. All projects always start with a Memorandum of Understanding. A true Public Private Partnership Ohorongo, FNB & Pupkewitz joining hands to support the provision of community driven houses for low income families pledging N$ 3 million to SDFN/NHAG. Provides SDFN/NHAG members with building loans ranging between N$ N$ Benefits: Employment creation; long-term and sustainable initiative; providing much needed housing to lower income families.

10 SKORPION ZINC U/17 FOOTBALL CUP Collaboration with the Namibian Football Association (NFA); Captures All Under 17 Youth Country Wide - from all regions; Nurturing and exposure of football talent from across Namibia ; Life Skills Coaching to the youth throughout the process; Enhancing coaching and refereeing capabilities in football across all regions; Economic benefits associated with hosting the event for service providers across many sectors; Deal of up to N$ 1.3 million per year for 3 years.

11 12 Drip Irrigation systems donated to Elderly community members, the local clinic, the Khorixas youth league, community members with disabilities and community leaders. Provides community with a means to grow fresh produce, sell to local businesses and share with others in need. 15 To further the education of all Namibians An educational concept that has delivered exceptional results in Arandis, Ondangwa and Swakopmund, has been replicated in mobile form and was launched towards the end of 2015.

16 SKORPION //KHARAS GOAT PROJECT Consultation with the //Kharas Governor s Office and the Ministry of Agriculture (MAWF) Covers all communal areas in the //Kharas Region (Karasburg, Bethanie, Tses and Berseba) Revolving design where beneficiaries provide seed stock for other future beneficiaries; More than 90% of the goats distributed bought from communal farmers in //Kharas; Affording the rural poor a Sustainable Entrepreneurial opportunity ; 16 Households (10 headed by women); To date N$ 1.1 million spend on project Maria Cloete tends to her flock of goats in her village Snyfontein in the Berseba communal area. Ludwig Mahure from Edwardsrus Pos (Tses) says, I now look after my own animals rather than tending after other people s livestock for very little money and food.

17 Joint Venture Lodge training initiatives Working together with the Hospitality Association of Namibia; Assistance for training conservancy members working at the Joint Venture Lodge; Conservancies in Kavango, Kunene & Zambezi benefited thus far; 17

18 WALVIS BAY SALT HOLDINGS Mathematics Professional Development Program for Primary School Teachers Training program takes place over 5 months, training 50 teachers; Supports a key goal of the Ministry of Education; Currently focused in the Erongo region could expand to other regions; 2016: N$ 187,000 18

19 The Learner Assistance Scheme Working together with the Ministry of Education, Arts & Culture; Identify those families and learners that need assistance; Employees drive throughout Erongo region to speak to learners & deliver school clothes, shoes & contributions to the school development fund; : N$ 700,000 19

20 Developing a safety culture in school and at home; Toolkits distributed to 230 classes (10,800 learners) in Grade 1 to 3 at cost of N$250,000.00, consisting of a teachers guide, activity and fact sheets, stories, posters, puzzles, games, songs, puppet shows and flash cards Project Safety W.I.S.E. 20

23 Partnerships Ulm - Namibia A generous donation of tubes of specialized sunscreen to the value of N$ to benefit the Albino Community. A container of medical equipment and supplies handed over by the Ohorongo Otavi Community Trust (OOCT) to the Opuwo District Hospital. 88 wheel chairs, 11 walking frames, 5 commodes, 5 mobile drip stands, was accompanied by several boxes of plaster and baby changing mats to the total value of N$ 320,

26 Way forward The President of Namibia s advisory team has indicated that they would like to partner with mining entities on CSR programs that align with Harambee targets. This can be coordinated through the Chamber. Scope activities & measure contribution to the HPP; Use HPP monitoring & evaluation tool; 26
