A "New Era" of the IEA s Energy Technology Network and Implementa>on Agreements by Toshiro Okada IEA's Energy Technology Network and Implemen7ng Agreements will enter 'new era' a\er 40 years opera7on experiences. The results of the IEA work, both of the secretariat and the Technology Network will feed into the G20 energy ministers mee7ng in October 2, and UNFCC COP21 Role of energy technology is crucial and Research, Development, Demonstra7on, Deployment and Dissemina7on (RDDD&D) plays an important role. CERT can serve efforts to re-vitalize the network and facilitate collabora7ons among related par7es. New Execu7ve Director Fa7h Birol invited Implemen7ng Agreement Delegates recently a for brainstorming mee7ng to strengthen energy technology ac7vi7es. CERT will held a mee7ng in Paris where new technology ini7a7ve procedure was discussed. 5

Contacts with possible sponsors/new par0cipants: China Given the ongoing energy revolu0on, electricity reform, new economy and electricity supply/demand situa0on in China, the DSM ac0vi0es may focus upon the following aspects during the 13 th Five-year period. 1) Conduct DR pilot programs to explore interac7on of RE electricity use with DR. 2) Develop innova7ve electricity price policies encouraging implementa7on of DSM. 3) Development and applica7on of internet+dsm/dr technologies. 4) Build DSM MIS network. 5) Explore market-based, innova7ve DSM financing mechanisms, e.g., EPC, PPP, green bond, etc.. 6) DSM capacity building, including DSM master degree programs, cul7va7on of various DSM technical and commercial service ins7tu7ons. 6
