1 Class Schedule Summer 2018 Starting and growing a small business is about combining your courage and dreams with the right knowledge. The WCTC Small Business Center helps you acquire that knowledge through a wide variety of affordable classes, services, events and more. For more information, contact us today at or visit our website at. To register for classes, call (option 1). Small Business Certificate Complete courses á la carte or attend the following eight courses to obtain the Small Business Certificate, $380 scholarship and FREE chamber membership. Attendance at 75% of all class meetings required to qualify. There are no prerequisites and classes may be completed in any order. Small Business Certificate Scholarship Certificate recipients are automatically awarded a $380 scholarship which essentially makes their education free! The scholarship is designed to encourage every entrepreneur to commit to a well-rounded education by completing the Small Business Certificate. Scholarships are subject to available funding and will be mailed with your certificate. Free Chamber Membership The Community Chamber Connection gives certificate recipients the opportunity to experience the benefits of local chamber of commerce membership at no cost for one year. Recipients should contact the participating chambers to explore membership benefits. Limit one free membership per certificate. Non-transferable. Restrictions may apply. Chamber voucher can be redeemed at the participating chamber of your choice and will be mailed with your certificate. See final page of flyer for details! Micro Seed Fund Certificate recipients are also eligible for the Micro Seed Fund which is an unsecured loan up to $5000, 5-year term, and 1% interest rate payable over the term of the loan. Dargis) Explore fundamentals of the QuickBooks software to manage your business finances. Students should be computer literate and comfortable working in a Windows environment. In this series of four classes, you ll develop a social media strategy to take advantage of social networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and others. We recommend you start with PC for the Petrified ( ), unless you re already comfortable with the basics of using a computer. Then move on to Windows Beginner ( ). After that, you can continue with courses in Microsoft Word and Excel. Textbooks are required for most courses Windows Beginner Windows Beginner ( ) is designed for the novice computer user that will provide an introductory look at Microsoft s Windows 7 desktop operating system. Students will learn how to navigate the Windows graphical interface and how to work with applications. In addition, students will explore the world of file and folder management using Windows Explorer and learn how to customize Windows using numerous Control Panel applets. Students will also be able to transfer skills learned in the class to other Windows platforms. Textbook and storage devices (USB drive) required /15 08/03 F 09:00-11:50 am B091 $ Microsoft Beginning Excel Learn the basic features of Microsoft Excel Topics include creating worksheets, formulas and functions, and using formations to create professional worksheets and charts. Participants should be computer literate and comfortable working in a Windows environment. Topics include managing workbook data, validation and worksheet protection, using and analyzing table data to manage information, automating worksheet task with macros, and enhancing charts. Participants should be computer literate, comfortable working in a Windows environment, and have taken Beginning Excel or have comparable Excel working experience. 5 Micro Seed Fund Description The Micro Seed Fund (MSF) is a loan funding opportunity designed to provide low cost loans, typically for start-up working capital needs for new businesses. Loan Parameters The goal of the program is to remain as flexible as possible in working with the individual needs of applicants. Loan requests range from a minimum of $2,500 up to a maximum of $5,000. Loans are provided on an unsecured basis with no collateral required. The interest rate is only 1% of the total loan amount per year and payable over the term of the loan. There is no prepayment penalty. Eligibility Requirements Obtain the WCTC Small Business Certificate available exclusively through the WCTC Small Business Center. For more information on the certificate, contact WCTC Small Business Center Executive Director, Russ Roberts, at or rroberts@wctc.edu. Complete a comprehensive business plan with a minimum of 2 years of financial projections. The applicant and guarantors, if applicable, will have no concurrent interest in any other project receiving assistance through the program. How do I apply? Step 1: Submit an application online at Step 2: WCTC Small Business Center Executive Director Russ Roberts will call/contact you to discuss the application process and completion of your business plan. Step 3: Meet in-person with Nate Zastrow to present your business plan and certificate. Bring four copies of your business plan to the meeting along with one copy of your WCTC Small Business Certificate. Questions?
