1 Wrigley Company Foundation 2011 Summary

2 W R I G L E Y C O M P A N Y F O U N D A T I O N Our Principles in Action Since its founding in 1987, the Wrigley Company Foundation has been putting our Principles into Action every day. We have been supporting people, the planet and the communities where we live and work through our grants a big responsibility as the main source of charitable giving for Wrigley. The Foundation has helped to improve and change lives around the world through donating more than $50 million to charitable organizations in its 24 years of operation. We believe we must make a difference through programs that have real impact, and are happy to have the opportunity to share this report highlighting some of our new partnerships and the incredible ways we are helping people and the planet around the globe. The Foundation is positioned to build upon the valuable partnerships it has carefully developed, and forge new ones that support causes most important to our associates and the communities where we live. The Wrigley Company Foundation has assets over $ 64 million Mission The mission of the Foundation is to improve the health of people and our planet through initiatives focused on oral health, environmental stewardship, and local needs that ensure a healthy community. Goals The Foundation aspires to achieve this mission by establishing global partnerships focused on oral health and access to oral care, as well as environmental initiatives especially those that encourage healthy communities through litter prevention and community greening. We will also give primary consideration to meaningful programs in the communities where Wrigley associates live and work, where they can directly contribute their energy and enthusiasm. 2

3 S U M M A R Y Governance The Wrigley Company Foundation is established as a private foundation in the United States and is regulated by the Internal Revenue Service of the U.S. government. The Foundation is required by law to distribute a minimum of 5% of annual average assets in accordance with a specified formula. As a result of this regulation, there are legal restrictions that limit the funding capabilities of the Wrigley Foundation, especially when providing contributions outside of the United States. All grantees must be recognized by the U.S. government as a non-profit, public charity with a designated 501(c)3 status. Organizations without such designation and related certifying documents, must undergo a significant vetting process. To facilitate global giving, the Foundation has partnered with the Donor Advised Funds Give2Asia and the King Baudouin Foundation U.S. The Wrigley Company Foundation has an established Board of Directors comprised of Wrigley associates. The current officers are as follows: President Martin Radvan Vice-President Andy Pharoah Treasurer Anthony Gedeller Secretary Ritu Vig Executive Director Mary Houpt Director Ian Burton Director Casey Keller Director Martin Schlatter Director Tomek Suchecki Director Samson Suen Director Denise Young 2011 Updates In 2011, we have made great progress in developing new global partnerships in our focus areas of oral health and the environment, and are working to connect and engage Wrigley associates at the local level with these projects. We have also approved new funding or redirected support with current partners. New Grantees: Save the Children Foundation for Environmental Education An Taisce Australian Dental Association Current Partners New/Redirect: Conservation International Wrigley Hope Schools IYF Phase II 3
