Jupiter Images We are facing an enormous challenge. A growing population with growing demands on a finite planet. To face this challenge, the most innovative companies are reinventing how we live and work, by carving out smarter ways of doing business. They are transforming operations, supply chains and customers to reduce footprint and create value for people and the planet.
OLG Just look at the stats: Employees want to make a difference. 98% of years olds want to work in an environmentally-responsible workplace 88% of employees want to work for a company committed to corporate social responsibility (CSR) These stats offer up a critical opportunity for companies. High employee engagement can lead to: 19% profit increase, 20% improved performance, 87% turnover reduction
OLG OLG HP Canada Sears Canada P&G Sears Canada WWF s Living Work program, championed by HP, helps businesses engage employees in sustainability. Champions, like you, are inspiring and empowering change at work by: Educating and engaging your colleagues Driving footprint reduction initiatives Organizing WWF campaigns Fundraising for WWF s conservation work
istockphoto.com We believe the next phase in this shift towards sustainability is to integrate philanthropy into organizational environmental efforts. Why? In Canada, only 3% of donations (by those aged 15 and over) are directed towards environmental causes.* The scale of charitable giving to the environment does not correspond to the magnitude and scale of the challenges we are facing. *Statcan

That s why WWF is working to support on-the-ground water stewards across the country to monitor the health of their local lakes, streams and rivers, and protect them. From Cape Breton to the Columbia Valley, young and old, urban and rural, these Water Heroes are helping WWF fulfill our goal of seeing all of Canada s waters in healthy condition by During Canada Water Week, we invite your workplace to: Help us raise funds for an on-the-ground water project in Canada Engage colleagues in awareness of why healthy waters are vital to the health of people, wildlife and ecosystems. Circulate the Living Work donation form to your potential donors and collect funds. Clearly fill out the form for those who wish to receive a tax receipt. (Note: Tax receipts are issued for donations of $10 or more) Make cheques payable to: WWF-Canada & include in the memo, the activity you fundraised for (i.e. Polar Bear Week, Canada Water Week) Mail cheque to: Attn: Olivia Fernandez, Living Work 245 Eglinton Ave. East, Suite 410 Toronto, ON M4P 3J1 *Please do not send cash in the mail. Feel free to circulate the link to our Spring Things website page to your colleagues if they wish to donate online.
Many companies encourage employees to contribute to charities by offering to match gifts. A matching gift is a donation made by an employer that matches the amount of an employee s gift to the same fund resulting in a much larger, more impactful gift. If you would like your donation to have twice the impact: Contact your company s gift matching administrator to inquire if such a program is offered. Inquire about the donation and matching process guidelines. Often, funds can be matched through cheque, cash, credit/debt card or stock. Who will be receipted for the gift? You will receive an official tax receipt for your gift and once we receive employer s matching gift, they will receive a tax receipt for their gift too.
Polar Bear Week Arctic Canada is home to over a quarter of the world s Arctic lands and waters. As the climate, warms Arctic sea ice is disappearing. That summer ice is vitally important to a whole range of animals from tiny shrimp to vast bowhead whales, and to local people. WWF is planning for a healthy Arctic future by focusing on three main priorities: building knowledge, guiding policy and partnering up with northern Communities to ensure that this region - including wildlife, and the people who depend on healthy wildlife populations - is able to adapt to a changing climate. All funds raised during Polar Bear Week will be directed to this program that is so critical to the future of the Arctic. Learn more. Canada Water Week Freshwater Canada has 20% of the world s fresh water, an abundance that has led to a false sense of security. Globally, freshwater species populations have fallen by at least 35% in the past 40 years. Nature needs fresh water to flourish and communities need healthy rivers and watersheds to prosper. WWF is leading an innovative approach to freshwater conservation, focusing on environmental flows at the watershed scale to protect and restore the quantity, quality and timing of river flows so that we can meet the water needs of people and nature, securing Canada's freshwater future. Learn more. CN Tower Climb The CN Tower Climb is WWF s biggest fundraiser of the year. This event funds for WWF s work to tackle major conservation issues to help safeguard the habitats of hundreds of species and make groundbreaking progress towards habitat Sustainability. Learn about the successes that WWF-Canada has been able to accomplish with help from our donors so far. Interested in more information about WWF-Canada financial stewardship plan?
