12 Matching Funds The Green Bay Packers Foundation provided a $250,000 grant to launch and create a matching pool of funds for Give BIG Green Bay. The matching funds will increase the value of every donation made. Once an organization raises $1,000 they are guaranteed at least $1,000 in matching funds. At the completion of Give BIG Green Bay, the Community Foundation will determine each nonprofit s proportionate share of the matching funds by dividing the amount each nonprofit organization raised by the total amount raised by all participating nonprofits. This number will then be multiplied by the total amount of available matching funds. For example, if one nonprofit raises 10% of the total amount raised in the 24-hour period, that organization will receive 10% of the available matching funds. The match will be calculated after transaction fees are deducted from each donation. The total matching dollar amount will be determined once the administrative costs to launch the program are assessed against the grant from the Green Bay Packers Foundation. Both foundations reserve the right to cap a single organization s available matching funds should the result materially outweigh those of other organizations. The Greater Green Bay Community Foundation does not retain any fees related to Give BIG Green Bay. 11
13 Nonprofit FAQs What is expected of the selected nonprofits in terms of time and effort? A: The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlines much of what is expected from each nonprofit. The MOU must be signed and submitted before an organization s application will be considered. Additionally, page 4 of this toolkit outlines the responsibilities of each participating nonprofit organization. Why is the program limited to approximately 30 participants? A: During our inaugural year, it is important we focus our effort, making this as successful as possible and building toward the future. Feedback gathered from other giving day programs around the country prove that a full understanding how to make your community s program successful, on limited resources, will pay dividends in any possible future campaign. We believe we can support this level of engagement without impact on direct support to nonprofits while providing a diverse cross-section of fields of interest that represents our community. Do we need to identify a specific program for funding? A: No, donors will be contributing to the work of the organization overall, and the dollars can be applied where there is greatest need. Feel free in the application, however, to highlight current initiatives that may inspire donor support. How were nonprofits selected to participate? A: The goal in the selection process was to ensure we have a diverse cross-section of impactful organizations that serve Brown County residents in terms of field of interest, size and communities served. If we are selected to participate, will that impact our ability to receive future grant dollars from the Community Foundation? A: No, Give BIG Green Bay is an independent initiative that is separate from all Community Foundation grant considerations and will not impact the Foundation s available discretionary grant dollars. 12
14 What role does the Community Foundation play in Give BIG Green Bay? A: The Community Foundation is providing the administrative resources, online platform and umbrella brand that will include media outreach. It will also provide a nonprofit toolkit at GiveBIGgreenbay.org which will include a variety of online tools and resources including key messages, social media posting ideas, etc. What are the transaction fees? A: There are no fees to apply to or participate in Give BIG Green Bay. Third-party transaction fees are assessed on each donation and total 6% per donation. Therefore, if a donor makes a $100 donation, $94 will go directly to the nonprofit organization before any matching dollars are applied. Donors will have the option of covering the processing fees by paying the additional 6%. The Greater Green Bay Community Foundation does not retain any fees related to Give BIG Green Bay. Who will distribute the tax receipts for donations? A: Donors will receive receipts for their donations via . Only receipts sent from the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation may be used for tax purposes. Will the participating nonprofits have access to their donor information? A: Each nonprofit organization will receive a report listing names, addresses and billing addresses of donors who supported them during Give BIG Green Bay. This report will not include information from donors who made anonymous contributions. Can people make anonymous donations via the Give BIG Green Bay website? A: Yes, every donor has the option to make the contribution anonymous. 13
