19 2016 INITIATIVE STRONG ECONOMY & BUSINESS CLIMATE Key Deliverable: A robust program to assist existing businesses grow through technical assistance, streamlined access to business resources and key business infrastructure improvements. Grand Junction is known as a great place to live and work. To ensure this stays the case, it is imperative that we work together to have a strong economy and business climate. By interviewing job creators in select industries to identify challenges and barriers for growth we can work to provide information and access to resources that can help solve these issues on an individual basis. The Chamber will also work to expand those resources in areas, such as, Air Service and Broadband in an effort to make sure the Grand Valley has what the business community needs. As we do this, monthly economic updates on the state of the economy, along with an annual Economic Summit will continually provide the local business community with the updates they need. In addition, an annual Business Health Care Summit will work to provide local businesses the information and resources needed to navigate today s ever-changing healthcare industry. Workforce is a key to a strong business community. To ensure our workforce is skilled and ready to enter the community, programs such as Hire Me First will work to provide students with demonstrated technical proficiencies, 21 st century workplace skills, and job showing experiences that will put them a step ahead of the rest, while also giving elective high school credit. A partnership with the Mesa County Workforce Center will also provide the opportunity to pursue third party verification that our community is ready for job growth through the ACT Work Ready Community Certification, giving potential employers another reason to conduct business here in the Grand Valley. Leaders are also an important part of the workforce and it s never too young to plant the seeds of success! By providing regular access to policy-makers at the local, state, and federal level, a constructive dialogue can take place between leaders and the business community, which leads to a more favorable economic climate. Through legislative video conferences, Chamber Days at the State Capitol and local Chamber events, we can assertively convey our position with the decision makers that impact our business community. 40 2016 INITIATIVE STRONG ECONOMY & BUSINESS CLIMATE Key Deliverable: A robust program to assist existing businesses grow through technical assistance, streamlined access to business resources and key business infrastructure improvements. INVESTOR SUPPORT OPPORTUNITIES Advocate $5,000 Partner $2,500 Supporter $1,000 Priority seating in prime location at the December Quarterly Luncheon Seat on Economic Summit Panel Booth at Business Healthcare Summit Company Logo and/or Name featured in Chamber stories about the Initiative, such as, Newsletter, E-Links, and Chamber Page Logo Name Name ship of Business Barometer and Business Roundtables Company recognition throughout the year Page 18
41 2016 INITIATIVE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT & TALENT RECRUITMENT Key Deliverable: A skilled current workforce and a pipeline of students prepared to enter the local workforce or start their own small business by actively working with other key players in the community including government and education. Our annual Young Entrepreneurs Academy does just that, offering middle and high school students the opportunity to successfully start and run their own small business and begin building the foundations for our future business community! INVESTOR SUPPORT OPPORTUNITIES Advocate $2,500 Partner $1,500 Supporter $1,000 Named sponsor of YEA!, Hire Me First, and Summer Youth Options Fair Seat on YEA! 42 2016 INITIATIVE STANDING UP FOR BUSINESS Key Deliverable: A strong and active business voice that is heard by policy makers and can be effective in influencing government actions that can help the environment in which local businesses operate. Protecting businesses from harmful government practices, such as, unfair fees and regulations is a main focus of our Chamber. In addition, we actively produce regular updates on current legislation and candidate endorsements through our Board of Directors, that will provide the Chamber Membership the information they need to determine who and what is standing up for business in our community!
