2 New Staff Orientation and Back-to-School In-Service Schedule - August 2016 PLEASE NOTE: The dates for this schedule are firm, but the activities scheduled for respective dates are somewhat tentative yet, subject to processing requirements (fingerprinting, blood work, chest x-ray, etc), and final determination of in-service topics. August 16 to August 18 are getting to know Kuwait and UAS days. Tuesday, August 16 & Wednesday, August 17, 2016 (New Teachers) 1. New teachers arrive in Kuwait and settle into living quarters. 2. New overseas hires visit the Business Office to collect salary advances if needed, and to collect the settling-in bonus. New teachers can collect these amounts on both August 16 and 17 after 9:00 a.m. 3. Shopping at 10:00 am on August 16 & 17, Meet in School lobby Go to Sultan Center, Hawally. The Welcoming Committee will organize this event. Thursday, August 18, 2016 ( New Teachers) 8:00-9:00 a.m. Breakfast for New Teachers in the Basement of Hawally Hilton. (Housing Complex across the street from the school) Coordinated by Staff Welcoming Committee. 9:10-11:00 a.m. New Teachers Orientation in the School Library Meet Administration. Welcome to UAS Superintendent. Introduction of Administrative Team. Introduction of New Teaching Staff Calendar. Handbooks Student/Parent and Staff. Forms Leaves, Requisitions, Professional Development, etc. Q & A Distribute Classroom Keys to New Staff. Building Tour or visit the Business Office if necessary. (Tour with Mr. McMurray/Mrs. Khaja) 12:00-1:00 p.m. New Overseas Employees take photos in the Multi-purpose Room for Civil I.D. Paperwork. 1:00 2:00 p.m. Lunch in Hawally Hilton basement Coordinated by Welcoming Committee. 2
