1 GEORGIA TECH ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION ANNUAL REPORT

2 Dear Yellow Jackets Fans, As I look back on my first full year as Georgia Tech s Athletic Director, I m so impressed by both the on- and off-the-field dedication of our coaches, staff and student-athletes, in addition to the amazing support of our proud Yellow Jackets fans and alumni. On the field of play, nine of our 17 athletic programs were represented in the NCAA postseason during the athletic season. Among the highlights were baseball winning the 2014 ACC tournament title and advancing to the NCAA Regional, another ACC golf title for Bruce Heppler s team which advanced to match play at the 2014 NCAA Championship, and women s basketball s seventh trip to the NCAA tournament in the last eight years. Golfer Ollie Schniederjans was named ACC Golfer of the Year, first-team All- America and is currently the No. 1 ranked amateur golfer in the world. In the classroom, Georgia Tech student-athletes continue to set records. Our Graduation Success Rate (GSR) rose to 79 percent, an all-time high for Yellow Jackets Athletics. Football was also recognized in the Top 10 percent academically among all FBS programs. Ten of our combined 13 GSR sports saw their rate increase or remain the same, while four programs earned APR Public Recognition Awards for a top 10 percent national performance (golf, women s swimming/diving, women s tennis and volleyball). We had 159 student-athletes selected to the ACC Academic Honor Roll, including track and field s Elizabeth Lacksen for the sixth time, and 2014 golf graduate Bo Andrews for the fifth time. This Annual Report was created for our fans and alumni. It reflects the many successes our teams, coaches and studentathletes enjoyed in The Annual Report is a guide to not only our academics and athletics, but also a brief snapshot of our finances. I hope that you enjoy this annual publication. We look forward to another successful year in I want to personally thank all of you who support the Yellow Jackets athletic programs through your generous donations, your purchase of season tickets and in so many other ways. Your continued support is critical to our success. Georgia Tech is a very special place, and I am honored to be a part of the rich Yellow Jackets tradition. Thank you and Go Jackets! Sincerely, FROM THE AD S DESK Mike Bobinski Director of Athletics ANNUAL REPORT

11 FINANCIALS FISCAL YEAR 2014 The Georgia Tech Athletic Association completed fiscal year with a net operating loss of $348,000. This will be covered by our GTAA Fund Balance (TABLE A), which essentially serves as a contingency account to offset any annual shortfall or fund significant emergent expenses. GTAA s long term financial health is dependent on maintaining and growing our endowment base which supports facility enhancements, scholarships, and the Total Person Program. On a very positive note, the overall GTAA endowment base grew during the fiscal year by approximately $5 million to a net value of nearly $110 million. Included in that total, the balance in the Facility Quasi-Endowments (TABLE B) grew $2.5 million to a new total of $34.2 million. This new funding will provide the GTAA with flexibility in the annual budgeting process and an increased ability to address operating needs for the athletic program. The additional funding along with strategic cash management increases the likelihood of GTAA finishing FY 15 with positive net income. 12 ALEXANDER-THARPE FUND The Alexander-Tharpe Fund (A-T) is a subsidiary of the GTAA and serves as the primary fund-raising arm. New gifts and commitments to A-T for FY 2014 were in excess of $25 million. Once again we are extremely grateful to our friends and fans of Georgia Tech athletics for their financial support. Gifts and commitments fall into three categories: endowments, current operations and facilities. A-T continues on the very ambitious goal of fully endowing scholarships for all student-athletes at Tech within the decade. Special recognition goes out to two groups affiliated with the Alexander-Tharpe Fund. Golden Jackets: This is our highest level of recognition. These donors have made cumulative cash gifts of $1,000,000 to Georgia Tech athletics. A-T Board of Directors: This volunteer group of Georgia Tech athletic supporters provide oversight and advice towards the efforts and direction of the Alexander-Tharpe Fund organization.
