2 2013 US National Championships Hosted by the Camden County Boathouse and Rutgers Alumni - Camden, US Nationals will be held from July in Camden, N.J., on the Cooper River. Close to 1,500 crews will race over the five-day regatta, including 97 clubs from 25 states in the U.S. and Canada. The US National Championships has grown by more than 500 entries since In 2013, the progression has changed from recent years due to the large number of entries and smooth progression. This year s progression includes the use of time trials for events with more than 18 entries. The first 37 events of the regatta will hold time trials on Wednesday, heats and semifinals on Thursday and finals on Friday morning. Events will begin on Friday afternoon and progress through the weekend, with finals scheduled on Sunday morning. About the Venue The Camden County Boathouse is located at Cooper River Park, which spans over 346 acres and four towns, including Pennsauken, Cherry Hill, Collingswood and Haddon Township. The four-story, 23,000-square foot boathouse opened July 2006 and includes geothermal heating and cooling systems and docks made of recyclable materials. Cooper River Park has hosted numerous major state and national rowing events, including the IRAs, NCAAs and the SRAA regattas, in addition to many local run high school, college and masters regattas. The boathouse features six boat bays for storage of more than 100 racing shells. It is home to six local high school rowing clubs, three masters level rowing clubs and the Rutgers University-Camden Team. The Cooper River played host to the US Olympic Trials in 2000 and 2007, as well as the US National Championships from 2001 to The US National Championships have been held on the Cooper River in 2007, 2008, 2012 and 2013.

A competitor who is Elite as a sweep rower shall be advanced to Senior for all sculling events and a competitor who is Elite as a scull rower shall be advanced to Senior for all sweep events. Intermediate A competitor is an Intermediate who has not advanced to the status of Senior or Elite. Junior A competitor who in the current calendar year does not attain the age of 19, or who is and has been continuously enrolled in secondary school as a full-time student seeking a diploma. A competitor thus ceases to be a Junior after December 31 of the year of his or her 18th birthday, or of the year in which he or she completes the 12th grade of secondary school, having been a full-time student, whichever is later.

4 Junior B The Junior B category shall consist of those juniors who in the current calendar year do not attain the age of 17. Elite A competitor is Elite who has been a member of the Senior US National Team or any country s National Team as a competitor (including as a spare) or a medalist at the U23 World Championships in the category at issue, other than in a junior or master s event. Story Ideas At 2012 US National Championships, Penn AC won the overall men s team trophy with points. New Athletic and Vesper Boat followed in second and third places. Penn A.C. won six events in the finals. Vesper Boat won the women s overall team trophy at last year s event with 155 team points and five wins in finals events. Community, Inc., followed in second place and Penn AC finished third. Vesper Boat won the combined men and women s team points in 2012 with 277 points. Chief Referee Elaine Roden is the Miami Beach Watersports executive director and 2012 US Joan Zandbergen Mama Z award winner. There are 99 clubs are scheduled to participate, up from 76 in s from 25 states in the U.S. and Canada are participating. The largest event is the men s Junior A single sculls, with 61 entries. The largest women s event is the Junior A single sculls with 55 entries.
