Six ACC teams are ranked this week, including four that are ranked in the top 10 Wake Forest is ranked in the Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, and NCBWA polls, becoming the 10th ACC team this season to earn a national ranking The Demon Deacons have won each of their first three ACC series for the first time since 2002 and have earned their first national ranking since North Carolina s three-game series at Florida State will mark the Tar Heels first visit to Tallahassee since 2011 The matchup features the two winningest active coaches in college baseball (by percentage) with Mike Martin at No. 1 (.738) and Mike Fox at No. 2 (.732) UNC has started ACC play this season with series wins over divisional foes Virginia, Georgia Tech and Miami. This marks the first time the Tar Heels have won series against those three in the same season since 2009 UNC took two of three from FSU in aforementioned 2011 trip to win its first series at Dick Howser Stadium since 1995 The Seminoles, however, have taken four of five meetings from the Tar Heels the last three seasons In the last regular season series between the two programs, FSU took two of three in Chapel Hill in The Seminoles also beat UNC in the ACC Championship in both 2014 and Louisville extended its homefield winning streak to 36 games with Tuesday night s 11-1 win over Western Kentucky Five Cardinal batters collected at least two hits Virginia will also enter this weekend s key series off an impressive nonconference victory following Wednesday night s 4-2 road win at VCU Cavaliers starting pitcher Derek Casey worked a season-high 6 1/3 innings in a no decision, allowing two runs (one earned), five hits and two walks while striking out a career-high 10 batters, most by a UVA pitcher since Connor Jones fanned 11 NC State batters on April 24, Boston College junior Donovan Casey hit for the cycle in his first four at bats (triple, home run, single, double) in Wednesday s 13-1 win over UMass Casey became the first BC player to hit for the cycle since April 27, 2003, when Jason Delaney did so against Seton Hall. He also scored a career-high four runs. 3 ACC PLAYERS THE WEEK Riley hit.600 in four games last week as No. 10 North Carolina went 3-1 with a win at East Carolina and a series victory over Miami. The sophomore outfielder tallied nine hits, eight RBIs, two home runs, five runs scored, and reached base safely in 10 of 16 plate appearances. Against the Pirates, he went 3-for-4 with two runs, four RBIs, and hit a three-run home run. Riley, who posted a slugging percentage of and an on-base percentage of.588, scored a run and tallied at least one hit in all four games on the week. Eubanks tossed a three-hit shutout in Clemson s 1-0 win over Boston College at Kingston, Rhode Island, on Saturday. In 9.0 innings pitched, he allowed just three singles, no runs and no walks with a career-high-tying 10 strikeouts. He faced just 30 batters and threw only 103 pitches, including 78 for strikes. The sophomore from Moore, South Carolina, also did not allow a leadoff batter to reach base and did not go to a three-ball count on a batter.
