2 The MASCAC Week in Review: April 3, 2006 Baseball Player of the Week: Bobby Montalto, Worcester State, Senior, Outfielder (Hudson, MA): Montalto picks up his third career Player of the Week award after batting.524 (11-for-21) with four runs batted in during seven games last week for the Lancers. He amassed four doubles, a triple and a home run while registering a.952 slugging percentage. Montalto was at his best in Worcester State s conference opening sweep of Bridgewater State. He collected four hits, including a pair of doubles and a homer. Pitcher of the Week: Andrew Gaines, MCLA, Freshman (Holyoke, MA): Gaines helped MCLA improve its record to an impressive 11-6 by winning a pair of games last week. He started his week by going eight innings and allowing just one run while striking out eight in an 8-1 triumph over Southern Vermont. Gaines came back on Sunday and yielded just two earned runs while recording four strikeouts in MCLA s 8-4 win over Elms in the opener of a doubleheader sweep.
