NC State, which won the first two games at Duke before dropping Sunday s finale, extended its ACC series win streak to 10 dating back to last season That is the longest current active streak in the ACC. The Wolfpack is also the only ACC team which has not lost a conference series this season. UNC s three-game sweep of Georgia Tech was its first versus the Yellow Jackets since 1996, while Clemson recorded its first sweep at Wake Forest since 2005 Florida State s three-game sweep at Boston College pushed head coach Mike Martin s career win total to 1,973. He needs just three more victories to become the winningest coach in college baseball history. Martin currently only trails the late Augie Garrido (1,975 wins) The Seminoles are scheduled to travel to Stetson on Tuesday night and then play host to Miami this weekend. By taking two of three at Miami, Pitt registered its fourth straight ACC series win, marking the most league series victories for the Panthers have had in their five seasons as conference members This is also the first season that Pitt has taken a series from the Hurricanes. Al three games of Virginia s series at Louisville were decided by one run The Cavaliers scored two runs in the top of the NOTING ACC BASEBALL ninth for a 2-1 win on Sunday after the teams split a pair of 5-4 decisions Six of Virginia s seven ACC series this year have been decided in the final game The Cavaliers are 10-6 this season in one-run games and have registered 12 come-from-behind wins Four of Virginia s last five games have been decided by a single run. Five ACC teams remain among the top 25 of the latest college baseball RPI with UNC at No. 6, NC State at No. 9, Florida State at No. 10, Clemson at No. 17 and Duke at No. 22. The 53-man watch list for the Brooks Wallace Award presented to the nation s top shortstop in college baseball includes nine from the ACC: Clemson s Logan Davidson, Notre Dame s Cole Daily, North Carolina s Ike Freeman, Louisville s Tyler Fitzgerald, Duke s Zach Kone, Boston College s Zach Palomaki, Florida State s Mike Salvatore, NC State s Will Wilson and Pitt s David Yanni. Current ACC candidates for the College Baseball Foundation s National Pitcher of the Year include NC State s Brian Brown and Joe O Donnell, Georgia Tech s Xzavion Curry, Clemson s Jacob Hennessey, Florida State s Drew Parrish, Wake Forest s Colin Peluse and Griffin Roberts, and Louisville s Adam Wolf. Georgia Tech s Tristin English and Duke s Jack Labosky represent the conference on the watch list for the John Olerud Award, which is presented annually to college baseball s top two-way player The ACC has claimed five of the previous awards, with Florida State s Mike McGee claiming the honor in 2010, followed by Virginia s Danny Hultzen in 2011 and Louisville s Brendan McKay each of the previous three seasons ( ). Entering the week hitting.195 on the season, Wells raised his batting average to.298. He had a 12-for-12 stretch at one point, and had careerhigh four hits on both Wednesday against Stetson and Saturday against Boston College. The senior right fielder from Key West, Florida, reached base in 22 of 24 plate appearances. Cabezas put together the best start of his career to help Miami salvage its series with Pitt on Saturday. Pitching the nightcap of a doubleheader, Cabezas threw the first complete game shutout by a Miami hurler since May 14, 2015, with a gem against the Panthers. The junior from Miami Gardens, Florida, struck out a career high-tying 11 batters, including two in the ninth, and faced just four batters over the minimum in the second complete game effort of his career.
