2 WELCOME TO EASTERN EASTERN ILLINOIS and PANTHER ATHLETICS looks forward to your team visiting our community and campus. Information regarding travel, driving, lodging, and Panther athletic contacts is enclosed. DIRECTIONS TO EIU ATHLETIC CAMPUS ARRIVING VIA INTERSTATE 57 (10 miles west of Charleston) Take Exit 190A and drive ten miles via IL 16 (east) to Charleston. Once in town, IL 16 becomes Lincoln Avenue. At fifth stop light turn right (south) onto Fourth Street. Drive a block to the three-way stop at the corner of Fourth Street/Grant Avenue. Continue south on Fourth Street and turn right (west) into parking lot at softball field. Go forward to park team bus/van south of Lantz Arena. From this parking area, visiting squads will have access to Coaches Stadium (baseball), Darling Courts (tennis), Lakeside Fields (soccer and rugby), Lantz Arena (basketball, swimming, indoor track & field, and volleyball), Panther Trail (cross country), O Brien Field (football and outdoor track & field), and Williams Field (softball). ARRIVING VIA INTERSTATE 70 (20 miles south of Charleston) Take Exit 119 and drive 20 miles via IL 130 (north) to Charleston. Once in town, IL 130 becomes 18th Street. At first stop light turn left (west) onto Lincoln Avenue/IL 130 (west). At fourth stop light, turn left (south) onto Fourth Street. Drive a block to the three-way stop at the corner of Fourth Street/Grant Avenue. Continue south on Fourth Street and turn right (west) into parking lot at softball field. Go forward to park team bus/van south of Lantz Arena. CHARLESTON, ILLINOIS, situated in the heart of Coles County, sits at the intersection of IL 16 (east-west) and IL 130 (northsouth), which is located 45-minutes south of Champaign-Urbana and 45-minutes west of Terre Haute, Ind. Charleston is also nearly equally positioned between the metro areas of St. Louis, Mo. (two hours northeast via I-70, I-57 and IL 16), Indianapolis, Ind. (two hours west via I-70 and IL 130), and Chicago (three hours south via I-57). DRIVING INFO Use either Interstate 57 (north-south) or Interstate 70 (east-west) when driving to Charleston. I-57 links off I-24, I-64, I-70, I-72, I-74, and I-80; while I-70 connects off I-55 and I-57. ARRIVING BY AIR Charleston is within easy driving distance from Lambert-St. Louis International Airport, Indianapolis International Airport, as well both Midway and O Hare International Airports in Chicago. Locally, the nearby Coles County Airport (for charter flights only) is situated halfway between Charleston and Mattoon on IL 16. In addition, flights at Willard Airport (45 minutes north of Charleston in Champaign) can connect with airports in St. Louis, Indianapolis and Chicago. EIUpanthers.com
