Yet businesses are demanding to know the roadmap beyond 2020; how will Asia Pacific sustain its growth? Organised by CACCI and co-hosted by MICCI and NCCIM, this conference has put together an eminent range of speakers from leading economists, business leaders, practitioners, and policy makers to conduct an in-depth discussion on challenging topics such as sustainability, business opportunities, trade liberalisation, regional cooperation and much more.
2 Organiser and Industry (CACCI) It is with great pleasure that I invite all CACCI members to join me and our colleagues from other countries in the region for this year's 28 th CACCI Conference scheduled to take place on September 17-19, 2014 in Kuala Lumpur. Our annual gathering this year takes place at a time when the global economy is showing signs of bouncing back, five years after the global financial crisis, pulled along by a recovery in high-income economies, as well as by a firming up of growth in developing countries, thanks in part to still strong, though moderating, growth in China. However, while global economic indicators show improve, analysts note that there are still dangers that lurk beneath the surface. The challenge therefore is to be able to achieve sustainable business growth amidst continuing changes in the economic landscape. Our Conference this year aims to provide a venue for our members to discuss and exchange ideas on trends and issues that are currently shaping the global markets. With the help of invited experts from the government and the private sector, we hope to take an in-depth look at some measures that policymakers could implement in various sectors of the economy to set in motion a virtuous cycle of stronger investment and output growth over the medium and long-term. I cordially invite all our members to attend this year's annual gathering and take advantage of another important opportunity to exchange views on how CACCI, as a regional association of businessmen, can help our respective countries and the Asian region as a whole achieve sustained economic growth and remain an important contributor to the world economy. I am also particularly pleased that the Malaysian International Chamber of and Industry (MICCI) and the National Chamber of and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) have taken the initiative to co-host this year's Conference. It underscores their strong commitment to the Confederation and the chamber movement in the region. I would, therefore, like to call on members to extend your support to the MICCI and NCCIM by participating in our 2014 gathering. It will be an appropriate time for you not only to strengthen links with our Malaysian colleagues but also to explore the new opportunities that the country s rapidly expanding market has to offer. I therefore look forward to seeing you all in Kuala Lumpur. With your presence and active participation in the forthcoming 28 th CACCI Conference, we hope to affirm CACCI s role as a vehicle for addressing issues of common concern to the region's business community and for promoting regional cooperation. Amb. Benedicto V. Yujuico President, CACCI The Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of and Industry (CACCI) is a regional grouping of APEX national chambers of commerce and industry, business associations and business enterprises in Asia and the Western Pacific. It is a non-governmental organisation serving as a forum for promoting the vital role of businessmen in the region, increasing regional business interaction, and enhancing regional economic growth. Since its establishment in 1966, CACCI has grown into a network of national chambers of commerce with a total of 28 Primary Members from 26 countries. It cuts across national boundaries to link businessmen and promote economic growth throughout the Asia-Pacific region. 26 Participating Countries Australia Bangladesh Brunei Cambodia Georgia Hong Kong India Indonesia Iran Japan Korea Malaysia Mongolia New Zealand Pakistan Republic of China (Taiwan) Papua New Guinea Singapore Philippines Sri Lanka Nepal Turkey Uzbekistan Vietnam Tajikistan Russia
3 Hosts On behalf of the Malaysian International Chamber of and Industry (MICCI), I am delighted to extend an invitation to all CACCI members and the business community at large to participate in the 28th CACCI Conference in Kuala Lumpur from 17 to 19 September As Malaysia s longest established Chamber of, MICCI looks back with pride on our 177 year history as a champion for business in Malaysia, regionally and internationally. Our membership of CACCI is but one example of the value MICCI places on building business relationships for the betterment of economic progress in the Asia-Pacific region and the importance and synergies that arise from such engagement between likeminded organisations. MICCI is pleased and honoured therefore to host, along with our partner, the National Chamber of and Industry Malaysia (NCCIM), the 28th CACCI Conference and invite you to explore the business opportunities and welcoming atmosphere that you will find in Kuala Lumpur during Visit Malaysia Year I am sure the extensive programme of business talks and meetings that will form the core of the CACCI Conference will provide you with many opportunities for extending your knowledge of this established and well respected Confederation. You will, I am certain, make new friends and business contacts here, and when the time comes to depart from Malaysia you will be able to look back on a most productive and worthwhile time in Malaysia s capital city.
