6 History History AVID Night at Knott s began in 2000 Hosted by Region 9 AVID San Diego COE as lead, Orange County Department of Education Coordinated (OCDE) 2011 AVID OC Dollars for Scholars and OCDE event lead and coordination

7 Purpose of AVID OC Dollars for Scholars To fundraise so that every OC AVID Senior Standout student is given a scholarship.

8 Ticket Distribution All tickets will be distributed to the AVID person in charge (PIC) at Knott s Berry Farm at ticket booths. Present identification when picking up tickets. Tickets distributed from 3:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Designate a location, away from the ticket booth, to issue tickets to students (i.e. bus, in parking lot) There will be a designated booth for purchasing additional tickets.

10 Parking AVID Placard on bus window or car for free parking Placards will be ed Thursday, March 8. To receive a placard the schools must submit a signed FAQ and participate in the WebEX

11 Event Protocols Chaperones monitor exit gates The AVID PIC must be on site until all of their students have left the premises. Backpacks not permitted Student ID required (PIC pre-check before entering) Bus drivers will receive free admittance when they present commercial driver s license and ID at the gate.

13 Check Out PIC must coordinate a check out protocol to ensure all students depart safely. The AVID PIC must be on site until he/ she visually observes all students departing from the premises. No Re-entry After the event, please complete the survey. Your feedback is valuable

14 Questions & Answers Can friends of the AVID students attend the AVID Night at Knott s? No This is strictly for AVID students. Can family members of the AVID students attend the AVID Night at Knott s? No This is strictly for AVID students. Liability If a student is injured while on a field trip or excursion in connection with courses of instruction or school-related social, educational, cultural, athletic, or school band activities the student is deemed to have waived all claims against the district for injury, accident, illness, or death occurring during or by reason of the field trip or excursion. (Ed. Code, 35330) This so-called field trip immunity protects school districts as well as their employees. (Casterson v. Superior Court (2002) 101 Cal.App.4th 177, 183
