Richmond and VCU captured Thanksgiving Tournament titles this weekend after winning their respective events. UR defeated Florida A&M and Florida Atlantic en route to winning the FAU Thanksgiving Tournament. VCU won the San Juan Shootout following wins over American and Villanova. The Atlantic 10 recently launched a women s basketball-specific Twitter handle The new account will be a one-stop shop for fans and media to stay up-to-date on all things related to A-10 women s hoops, including game schedules, scores, player awards, game highlights and more. For the second consecutive season, Saint Louis was the last standing unbeaten A-10 team. The Billikens began the season 5-0 after beginning the previous season 7-0. Saint Louis junior Jackie Kemph was selected as one of 20 players to be named to the Nancy Lieberman Award Watch List for the season. Now in its 17th year, the award is presented by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame to the nation s top NCAA Division I women s basketball point guard. 2 WOMEN S BASKETBALL GAMEDAY NOTEBOOK PLAYER OF THE WEEK Chassidy Omogrosso Sophomore Guard Beaver Falls, Pa. Omogrosso led the Dukes to road wins over St. John s and Iona College, averaging 19.5 points per game while shooting 55 percent from the field and committing only two turnovers in 78 minutes. The sophomore from Beaver Falls, Pa., tallied a career-high 25 points (7-11, 2-3 3FG) and was 9-of-10 in free throws at St. John s. At Iona she tabbed 14 points and a career-high six assists in the win on the road. PAGE 2 PAST PLAYERS OF THE WEEK Nov Jackie Kemph, Saint Louis Nov Chassidy Omogrosso, Duquesne CO-ROOKIES OF THE WEEK Jayla Scaife, Dayton Freshman Guard Muncie, Ind. Scaife had a stellar debut week with a pair of double-figure scoring games in her first two appearances for the Flyers. The freshman from Muncie, Ind., averaged 13.0 points per game to go with 5.5 rebounds, three blocks, and two steals in the two wins over Wisconsin and Princeton on the road. Scaife started off her career with 15 points and 3-of-6 shooting from 3-point range against the Badgers. She followed that up with her first career double-double, totaling 11 points and 10 rebounds against the Tigers. Scaife also helped on the defensive end of the floor with two blocks and two steals as Dayton defeated Princeton in overtime. PAST ROOKIES OF THE WEEK Nov Hailey Leidel, Massachusetts Nov Jayla Scaife, Dayton...Nina Aho, Duquesne Nina Aho, Duquesne Freshman Guard Budapest, Hungary Aho averaged 14.0 points per game and three assist per game in the Dukes two wins this past week. The freshman from Budapest, Hungary, scored 12 points in a third quarter comeback win at St. John s, and added two rebounds and one steal. Aho scored a career-high 16 points, seven field goals and four assist in her 34 minutes of play at Iona. WEEKLY HONOR ROLL Dayton s Alex Harris led the Flyers to wins over Wisconsin and Princeton on the road this past week, averaging 9.0 points and 13.5 rebounds per game Fordham s G mrice Davis had nine points, a career-high 15 rebounds, three assists, and four steals, leading the team in all four stats in a lost to No. 1 Notre Dame Fordham s Kate Kreslina posted nine points on 3-of-5 shooting, including her first career three-pointers, plus career-highs of nine rebounds, six assists, and a block in 27 minutes against Little Rock George Mason s Kara Wright notched her first career double-double in a win at LIU Brooklyn on Tuesday George Mason s Jacy Bolton averaged13 points in two games last week, adding a career-high 17 points in a loss to Arizona on Friday George Washington s Caira Washington averaged a double-double and was GW s leading scorer in both games as the Colonials went 2-0 last week with wins over Coppin State and Villanova George Washington s Kendall Bresee pulled down six rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench as the Colonials drubbed Coppin State, 76-46, on Wednesday night La Salle s Amy Griffin averaged 20.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 blocks, 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals over three games last week, scoring double figures in all three games Massachusetts Maggie Mulligan posted a trio of double-doubles during the week with wins over North Dakota State and Montana and a loss at Iowa Massachusetts Hailey Leidel averaged 14.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 3.7 steals as the UMass women s basketball team went 2-1 with wins over North Dakota State and Montana and a loss at Iowa Rhode Island s Charise Wilson set a Rhode Island single-game scoring record with 38 points in a victory over Samford on Sunday, and also had a school-record 15 field goals in the game Rhode Island s Nicole Jorgensen recorded her first career double-double at Toledo with a team-high 18 points and 10 rebounds at Toledo Richmond s Micaela Parson scored 18 points in two of the Spiders three games this week and 12 in the other giving her an average of 17.0 points per game this season Saint Louis Jackie Kemph had game-highs of 21 points and six assist at Bradley on Sunday. Established in 2013, the Legends program recognizes basketball student-athletes and coaches who have made a lasting impact on their respective basketball programs and institutions. The 2017 Women s Legends class will be announced in January and honored March 3 at the Richmond Marriott in Richmond, Va., prior to the 2017 Women s Basketball Championship quarterfinals.

4 WOMEN S BASKETBALL A-10 COACHING FRESH FACES IN THE A-10 Four Atlantic 10 programs will feature a new coach during the season. Shauna Green (Dayton) and Jesse Fleming (St. Bonaventure), longtime assistants in the A-10 will be taking over programs coming off postseason appearances. Jennifer Rizzotti takes over the top spot for a GW program that is coming off consecutive A-10 titles. Coming off back-toback trips to the WNIT, Tory Verdi will hope to replicate that success for the Minutewomen as he begins as tenure as head coach at UMass. SELECT COMPANY Cindy Griffin, the all-time leader in wins at Saint Joseph s, has compiled an overall record of in 18 seasons as a head coach, is the eighth coach in NCAA Division I history to lead her alma mater to the NCAA Tournament as a player and a coach. 300 CLUB Five A-10 coaches have more than 300 career wins, with two coaches (Stephanie Gaitley and Lisa Stone) with more than 500 wins. A PLACE IN HISTORY With Fordham s win over Albany on November 22, 2016, head coach Stephanie Gaitley moved into sole possesion of second-place in Atlantic 10 wins in league history with 157. Through their history, they have combined for 109 postseason appearances. Throughout the A-10 s 34 years of women s basketball history, 12 different programs have been crowned conference champions. Since the season, the Atlantic 10 has sent 66 teams to the postseason, including three teams to the NCAA Tournament in seven of the last 10 years. There have been 27 appearances in the NCAA Tournament by A-10 teams in that 10 year time frame, 17 of which have come via at-large bids. The Atlantic 10 has had at least five teams qualify for postseason play every year, with 10 of the 14 current members having made the postseason, during that span. In 2015, seventh-seeded Dayton advanced to the Elite Eight following victories against Power 5 programs: Iowa St., Kentucky and Louisville before falling to eventual national champion, Connecticut. For the third consecutive year, the A-10 quarterfinals will be aired live on ASN. Semifinal Saturday on CBS Sports Network tips off at 11:00 a.m., followed by the second semifinal at 1:30 p.m. Sunday s championship final on March 5 will be aired live on ESPNU at noon.
