The program schedule is a full one, and we are confident that the activities will be rewarding and fun! If you plan to be in Rochester during the program, you may wish to take advantage of activities in the local and downtown areas. On Friday evening, we will be hosting a reception for parents. In addition, a variety of on-campus events are offered on Saturday. Casual attire is appropriate for all College activities. Please see the enclosed schedules for information about these optional events. On campus housing is not available for family members. Please see the enclosed list of nearby accommodations. At Check-In, the Parent Table will have more information about the Rochester area, our social event and more. At Check-In, if you haven t already done so we will be requesting your contact telephone number in case of an emergency. If your child is attending College alone or with a friend, we will assume the home number is the number to use in case of an emergency. The following information about your child s stay at RIT may be helpful: Students staying overnight will be lodged in double rooms with standard size twin beds in our residence halls. Bedding is not provided. Should there be a need for special housing due to a disability, please let us know at least one week prior to the program. Overnight students will be given a room key, building key card and meal card for use during their stay. Each is assigned individually, and must be returned at Check-Out on Saturday, otherwise a charge will be assessed. Please remind your child to keep his or her room locked to protect personal belongings. There is a pay phone available in the lobby of Grace Watson Hall (GWH). Should you wish for your son or daughter to place a long distance call from this phone or from any other phone on campus, please make arrangements for use of a calling card, or plan for acceptance of collect calls. Emergency messages may be left for our staff or your son/daughter during the program at ASK RIT ( ). RIT residence halls are supervised by residential staff and patrolled by student staff. There are established quiet hours between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Students need to be in their assigned rooms by 1:00 a.m. Smoking, gambling, the use of illegal drugs, and the use of alcohol are forbidden on campus. Students who are not staying overnight in RIT housing are welcome to join us for dinner and social activities on Friday night. You should plan to pick up your child in front of the Student Alumni Union (SAU) by the tall Sentinel Sculpture anytime between 9:30 p.m. and the end of the activities and entertainment at 11:00 p.m. On Saturday, parents and students can reunite between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. in the Gordon Field House (GOR) for Check-Out. Students must return keys and meal cards at that time. Please note our program s start and end times. Students needing to arrive before or after these times must make their own arrangements for transportation and/or accommodations and should contact our office. Please complete and return the Waiver of Liability Form prior to arriving at RIT if you have not done so already. Should you have any questions at all about the program, please contact our office. We are looking forward to a great weekend! Sincerely, Daniel R. Shelley Associate Vice President and Director of Undergraduate Admissions
