Ardis Bell Library An exhibit of period clothing and equipment from U.S. Armed Forces in the Vietnam War, with an accompanying book display. Items are on loan to TCC from the National Vietnam War Museum in Weatherford. NW Oct. 25 Book Discussion: The Things They Carried 2-3 p.m. Walsh Library Weekly book discussion on The Things They Carried, occurring every Tuesday through Nov. 22. NW Oct. 31-Nov. 3 Flag Days Display all day; Contribute to display 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Flags displayed near the campus entrance. To tie ribbons on flags, please visit the WSTU bookstore lobby from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. or visit WSTU 2811 Students will have the opportunity to write the names of family members or friends who have served in the military on ribbons and tie them to small American flags. The flags will be displayed near thecampus entrance for the entire week of Nov. 7. A Thank you for your service banner will be displayed with the flags. NW Nov. 7 Celebration of Life and Freedom, sponsored by Student Activities NW Nov. 7 Lecture by Iraq War veterans Arron Hodges and Andrew Guadagno along with Gulf War veteran Robert McMahon. 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Student Center, WSTU 1303 All students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in a celebration of life and freedom. Enjoy music, activities and cake while expressing appreciation for the country we live in and the freedoms we have thanks to those who serve. 3 SO Nov. 2 Lecture on Post-Traumatic Stress 3-4 p.m. Drake Study Break Café, Jenkins Garrett Library Professor of Psychology, Charles Overstreet, will speak about post traumatic stress. SO Nov. 7 Vet Ventures 1-2:30 p.m. Student Union Opportunities for veterans to sign up for kayaking, fishing, horseback riding, cycling, motorcycle clubs, farming and fitness programs. There will other opportunities for veterans to sign up to volunteer to help other veterans. Table presentation, no RSVP required. SO Nov. 7 Project 22 12:15-2 p.m. Student Union, SSTU-Forum Room, Motorcycle procession around campus ending in front of SSTU-patio. CVMA- C Veteran Motorcycle Association will show support a national group that is raising awareness about the suicide epidemic and other challenges impacting veterans. A documentary about a couple of veterans who rode cross country to spread the word on veterans suicide will be aired. Recuriters for the national organization will be present. Free snacks and a chance to meet other veterans on campus. Film begins at 1 p.m. No RSVP needed. Colonel Kevin Sweeney a distinguished combat pilot awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Sweeney now is a corporate executive, author, university instructor and inspirational speaker. Following the breakfast, students and guests will be invited to participate in the VetSuccess Fair to learn more about available academic support services and community resources. The Idea Store will host a parade welcome table outside the Idea Store. TR Nov. 11 National Roll Call Ceremony 11 a.m-12:30 p.m. Rotunda, TRTR 3rd Floor Veterans, students, faculty and staff at the Trinity River Campus will gather in the Rotunda (joining simultaneous events at colleges and universities across the nation) to read the names of the fallen from Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, now called Operation New Dawn.
