6 TRANSFER ADMISSION To be considered for transfer admission, you must: Complete at least 21 credit hours (not including developmental courses) at a two or four-year college/university. Have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 GPA or higher and be in good standing at the previous institution from which you are transferring. Have fewer than 21 transferable hours? If you have fewer than 21 transferable hours, or you are a student that has not yet graduated high school, but has dual credit courses or other college credit, you are still considered a freshman student and must apply as a freshman and submit: Official high school transcript and college transcript(s). Official ACT/SAT test scores. When is the best time to transfer? You should apply as early as possible. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will evaluate your courses based on the course work that you have already completed. You will be required to send your final official transcripts, after all your grades have been posted, in order to be fully admitted to the university. lucky s tip: Apply early! Priority undergraduate Application deadlines: Fall: March 1 Spring: November 1 6 transfer students start your legacy here texas A&M university-commerce
7 How are credits evaluated? Transcripts are evaluated for credit by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, and at times may undergo a review by faculty members serving as department heads or deans of your academic program. Credits for your specific degree must be determined by the academic departments. Once your transcript undergoes the review process, you will be provided with information concerning the transferability of your courses and how they will be applied to your degree program. A course must be college level to be transferable, and you must have earned a grade of D or better. In some instances a grade below a C may not be acceptable in cases where the course will be applied to your major. Students can access their degree plan through the online degree evaluation system once they have been admitted. I applied for a previous semester and was accepted. Does this guarantee that I will be accepted again? If you applied as an incoming freshman and have since attended another college or university, we will need those transcripts before an admission decision can be made on your new application. The same applies for a transfer student who has attended an additional school(s) since applying with us. We will need to verify your GPA before an admission decision can be made. transfer students start your legacy here texas A&M university-commerce 7
