MESSAGES OF INTEREST COUNSELING CENTER: A summarization of the ACE-UCLA Freshman Survey results for the class of 1980 is available in the Center.

5 MESSAGES OF INTEREST COUNSELING CENTER: A summarization of the ACE-UCLA Freshman Survey results for the class of 1980 is available in the Center. The Center wishes to thank the faculty for bringing the group program to the attention of students. There has been an excellent response and student turn-out to the programs. Additional groups will start during the semester. Brochures are available in the Center. R.O.T.C.: The Annual Military Ball will be held on Friday evening, March 11, 1977 from 9:00 P.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the Willow Grove Naval Air Station Officers' Open Mess. Music will be provided by the Charles Gresh Orchestra. CONFERENCES: Brooks, Dr. Victor D., associate professor, psychology, attended the course, "Anxiety and Depression at the Coatesville Veterans Hospital, sponsored by the Jefferson Medical University, as well as the course on,alcoholism and Drug addiction. He also attended the course on Clinical Depression given by the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in January. WORKSHOPS CONDUCTED Bricketto, Matthew, and Levin, Harry, assistant directors of resident life, gave a session entitled, "Knock, Knock! Who's There?" dealing with the legal and practical implications of search and seizure in the residence hall setting. The conference was MACUHO (Middle Atlantic College and University Housing Officers) and was held last November in Morgantown, West Virginia. Weber, Shelley M., a member of the Counseling Center staff, conducted a seminar on, "The Assessment of Assertive Behavior" for a group of faculty and students at the University of Pennsylvania in December. RECENT PUBLICATIONS: Bangs, Brother Arthur J., F.S.C., Ph.D., associate professor, education, has had his book review of "Interpersonal Psychology for Law Enforcement and Corrections" appear in the Personnel and Guidance Journal. Cleary, Dr. C. Richard, professor, political science, has had a long article entitled, "Tonypandy, Timesmanship, and the News from France" published in Modern Age, Vol. 21 (Winter 1977) No

6 RECENT PUBLICATIONS (CON'D) Close, Dr. Daryl, lecturer, philosophy, has had an article entitled, "What Is Non- Epistemic Seeing?" published in Mind, 85 (April 1976). Pfeiffer, Dr. Mark G., associate professor, psychology, together with his students Harriet C. Herman and Rosemary C. Schwoerer, have published, "Mating of Teachers and Jobs; A Relationship Previously Ignored in the Diagnosis and Evaluation of Classroom Teaching" in International Review of Applied Psychology, Rudnytzky, Dr. Leo D., professor, German and Slavic Languages, has had his review of I. Amin's "Human Dignity, Freedom, and Lake Victoria" published in the Free Ukranian Quarterly, January Weinstein, Dr. Minna F., associate professor, history, has had an article entitled, "Queen's Power: The Case of Katherine Parr," published in History Today, December 1976 GUEST APPEARANCES Christopher, Brother Frank, F.S.C., coordinator, Transfer & Foreign Admissions, presented, "Bridges & Barriers," a slide presentation of processing foreign student applications, during the "International Awareness Week" at the University of Delaware. The demonstration was given to the Student Affairs Personnel on January 11, and to the University faculty on the 12th. Rudnytzky, Dr. Leo D., professor, German and Slavic languages, lectured on "New Directions in Contemporary Ukrainian Poetry in the United States," at the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute on December 5, 1976 and on the "Quest for a National Identity in the Works of Ivan Franko," at the Ryerson Politechnic Institute, Toronto, Canada, on December 12, **************************************************** -4-
