2 Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University School of Graduate Studies and Research CALL FOR ABSTRACTS Research Poster Competition and Three Minute Thesis (3MT ) March 30, 2016 As part of the activities celebrating Graduate Student Appreciation Week, March 28- April 1, 2016, Graduate Studies and Research will host its Third Annual 3MT Competition and the Graduate Research Poster Competition on Wednesday, March 30, All masters and doctoral students are invited to participate in the events by submitting an abstract of 300 words or less. Abstracts should be in a Microsoft Word document and must contain the title of your research, full name of the presenting author, and department, school, or college. Research Poster Competition The poster competition will take place on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom. Following the acceptance of the abstracts, students requiring assistance from Graduate Studies with the printing of their posters are required to submit their posters via to gradstudies@famu.edu no later than 5 p.m. on March 23, Posters will not be accepted for printing after this deadline. Posters must be formatted in PowerPoint with dimensions of 36 inches by 48 inches. 3MT Competition Three Minute Thesis (3MT ) celebrates the exciting research conducted that is being conducted by our master s and doctoral students. Developed by The University of Queensland, the exercise cultivates students' academic, presentation, and research communication skills. The competition supports their capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non- specialist audience using a single static PowerPoint slide that will be displayed during their three minute presentation. The slide must contain no animations, transitions, video or audio Tiles, and it must be submitted to Graduate Studies via at gradstudies@famu.edu. Please visit for more information on the 3MT Competition Florida Statewide Graduate Student Research Symposium The University of Florida will also host the 2016 Florida Statewide Graduate Student Research Symposium. The symposium will be held on April 22, 2016, from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. In order to qualify for this competition you are required to present your research at FAMU. Kindly consider participating in the competition. The cost of attendance and travel will be covered by Graduate Studies. The selected students will be endorsed by the Associate Provost and Graduate Dean of the Graduate College. Additional information will be provided for accepted students.
